This is a split door bottom freezer type. The refrigerator just went warm and then hot, especially around the the black striping on the doors. The freezer is working fine.
What to do?? I am really beginning to dislike Sears appliances (not our first problem with a Kenmore)... This refrigerator is only a couple years old.
First, sears doesnt make any of their own appliances, but they do sell them, so you can be upset, but it is fixable. what is happening is the freezer fan is not running causing no cold air to circulate. the reason the door strip feels hot is it has a heater to prevent condensation and when the unit is cooling properly it will feel normal temps.
check to see if you can hear the fan running in the freezer, if it is then you may have a defrost problem, but most likely you have a bad fan motor. remove the rear panel in the freezer and check the fan to see if it is turning. if not replace the motor.

Refigerator is not working, door stripping is Hot. Freezer is working fine.
Fan is working, everything has been cleaned of dust in the back and under the unit.
We turn off the refrigerator and let it sit to check the wiring to see if anything had fried (there had been a burned smell). Plug back in, refrigerator still does not work, freezer still works.
