Question about Baumatic BTM25SS Convection Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Installation Advice I want to install one of these ovens in a boat so fire risk and overheating is a concern. The installation instructions require 300mm clearance for on top of bench but the picture shows an "in cabinet" installation the size of the trim kit. What is the clearance with the trim kit? Is it a trim kit only or a ducted system?

The trim kit would be passively vented. I would contact the manufacturer's customer service peoiple for details. You may also need to ask to speak to a technician if the customer service folks can't fully answer your inquiry. See http://www.baumatic.co.uk

My microwave oven is dead. Apparently the fire protector blew. How to locate and how to replace?

Since you didn't mention the model number, I have to be kind of general.

If you mean the flame sensor or oven cavity thermostat, they are usually located on the top of the cooking cavity, so you would first have to remove the oven from the wall mount if it's an over the range type.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

If for some reason you don't still have your installation instructions, y

Will not power up

Chances are the magnetron overheated and the thermal cutout / thermal fuse / thermostat (whichever is used in your model) that monitors the magnetron's temperature has failed.

There should be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

One of the plastic pieces that holds the inside tray caught on fire-Melted and sparks.

All of the holders should be removed, then clean the area around where they mount.

If there is any charring, lightly sand the area, clean and dry it.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

Then you should replace all the holders as a set.

You can find helpful Whirlpool exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

If the holders need to be unlocked from inside the chassis of the oven, this will require you to remove the oven from the wall and take off the outer cover.

My Frigidaire Microwave caught on fire

The owner's manual warns of the dangers of overcooking potatoes and similar foods and not to ever leave the oven unattended while it's running.

Are you looking for help to get your microwave working again?

Chances are it's just an opened flame sensor (cavity thermostat / thermal cutout / T.C.O.). Its job is to cut power if there's a fire.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Accessing some components for testing and possible replacement (like the oven cavity thermostat) will require you to remove the oven from the wall.

Won't turn on

I'll proceed on the assumption that the model number posted by "Guest" is being posted by "clearlymaybe".

Yes, I'd say the oven cavity TCO (flame sensor) probably got tripped by the heat of the fire.

Ge model Jvm1563wh05 microwave oven

I assume that model is JVM1653WH05?

The fire probably opened the internal flame senor, also known as the oven cavity thermal cutout (TCO) located on top of the cavity.

The TCO part number is WB27X10195 and it's available here.

I just bought a Whirlpool Velos Microwave Convection over the range microwave. We are in the process of installing it; had to change the vent, electrical hookup, etc. My question is, as large as this thing...

The installation manual will specify the requirements.

If not, I would contact Whirlpool customer service.

Whirlpool customer service is here and you can also enter your model number on that page to download your owner's manual, installation instructions, etc..
