The pink cable is a safety lockout so you cannot watch video unless the parking brake is set. There are "bypass kits" available online, but I discourage using them. Even a momentary distraction can get you into dangerous situations...
1: Go into AM/FM mode 2: Hit "setup" on the remote control 3: Enter 543210 on the remote, listening for the beep for each number entered 4: A new menu will appear. Touch the button that has the hammer/screwdriver on it in the upper left-hand part of the screen. 5: Select Brake bypass to "ON" and hit the "X" near the bottom of the screen 6. I am not responsible for whatever you do with this code!!!
The pink wire in most instances is the DVD's sensor that the vehicle is not in motion and is parked. It then allows the DVD player to display the movie not the warning message nor the blue screen. Your description "...pink wire on a bolt attached to the body..." indicates that said wire is constantly grounded. The DVD then cannot sense that the vehicle was parked. What this tell us is that the pink wire must first have a +12VDC before it is grounded. This changeover from + to 0 is the trigger. What is required is to have a single pole double throw switch. One end terminal is wired to ACC B+12 while the other to ground with the center terminal to the pink wire. Moving the switch from position OFF to ON (+12 to GND) simulates the parking brakes condition and will enable DVD playback.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
If you have the VM9410 then there is a way to play dvd's even when you are driving. You must ground out the pink wire in the harness. This allows you to watch dvd's even when driving. good luck!
YOU DONT NEED TO HOOK THE PINK WIRE UP JUST PUT IN A DVD AND TYPE IN 543210. THIS IS A BYPASS CODE SO YOU CAN PLAY DVD WITHOUT HOOKING UP THE PINK WIRE. YOU MUST HOLD DOWN THE 0 FOR 4 SECONDS WHEN PUTTING IN THE CODE.
Hit Setup On Remote. Select Language. Get Remote And Hit 5,4,3,2,1,0. Listen For Beeps. Touch “Hammer/Screwdriver” Logo. Select Brake Override Switch To Brake Override “ON” Now Hit Setup On Remote.
This wire goes to the "Hot" side of the parking break switch... When the Parking Break is put on, a switch is closed, thus putting an "Earth" on this wire.. Ya can often bypass this by connecting to earth. Sometimes this wire can be "Hot" +12v so B4 doing anything with unit "On" check this wire for any Voltage.
