Your dvd only writes to dvd-r and dvd-rw, but writes to both cdr + and - r/rw. To confirm it go into nero tools and nero info tools and all the ticks in the boxes are what your drive supports

Then the tip was worth more than a poor rating.

No only joking, i checked on the site and it said that your writer only supported '-' on the dvdr and rw, apologies.

Try another media make if possible it just may be the product

When I insert a blank DVD-R disk into my Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111D burner, no "untitled disk" icon appears on my desktop. I am using a Mac mini computer. This is the first time this has happened...

Go into your system profiler. Make sure the DVD is showing up. Click the DVD and check what disks it can use and make sure the disks you are using are compatible.

Best of luck, Jim

CD/DVD will not burn DVD

Did you tell CDBurnerXP that you want to burn a CD? or to burn a DVD?

Does this happen with _EVERY_ "blank" disk that you insert, or just one disk?

Can your DVD-RW _read_ a previously-recorded CD? DVD?
If not, then that hardware is suspect.

Not reading dvd r or rw as writable disk

It sounds like you are having issues with all DVD writable disks. From the specs I was able to find online about your DVD writer, DVD+RW discs may not be compatible with the the drive. Make sure you are using DVD-RW (note the minus instead of +). I think you might need to reinstall your DVD drivers. This should solve the issue.

DVD R burnt by pioneer drive couldn't be read by itself.

If there were compatability issues with the disc it would have been unable to burn to the dvd initially, the problems you mention are a sign that the reading in the dvd is failing and there's never a solution for problems as these, as it means that a replacement is needed, as the dvd writer arent worth repairing. I had the same thing exactly, but after a while it wouldnt even acknowledge that i had a writable dvd in the drive, but was ok with cd's. I think it is down to poor quality lasers, so as to keep the dvd writer prices down.
