Actually, Yes. It seems like you have answered your own question... Especially considering the monitor works on another computer.

Do you have another monitor to test on this computer?

Although another consideration could be if you recently installed or downloaded a program which may have changed your video output range to a setting your video monitor wont handle. If this is the case and you can start the computer in safe mode, this will allow you to go into your properties settings and change it back. This way, a new vid card is not req.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Compaq Presario stuck in sleep mode

Connect the monitor to some other computer, e.g., a notebook, and see if it does the same thing. If it does, then the monitor is the problem.
If it does not, then your computer is not putting-out any "video" signal, and so the monitor goes to "sleep".

If you have MORE than one VGA-output port on your computer, connect your monitor to the "other" VGA port.

Or, press-and-hold the ON/OFF button on your computer, to force it to completely shutdown.

SOURCE: unpacked computer after move moniter will not stay

Hi
please check the cable between the computer tower and the monitor.
either the cable is not connected properly or the cable is defective.
this is a message you normally get when the computer is off, and you try turning on the monitor alone.

hope it helps

Came home to find computer off. It was left in sleep mode. The moniter keeps saying there is no signal and the keyboard has no power.

If its truely in sleep mode, and won't come out of sleep mode. Unplug the computer from its power, hold the power button down for 5-15 sec, then wait 2-5 full minutes. Then plug it back in, and turn it on.
If that doesn't work it is NOT stuck in sleep mode. Most dell computers I've worked with the caps go out in the power supply and/or the motherboard. I would next clean out the computer with canned air, check the caps on the motherboard, and in the power supply. If there are any bad caps, replace them, and it should fix it. Hopefully though the above paragraph fixes your problem.

Moniter goes into sleep mode after i turn it on. Have to turn off the monitor for 20 seconds and then it comes back on for about 20 seconds and goes back into sleep mode

This may be a problem with the monitor, such as a failing video board, or it may also be a problem with the video card in your computer. If you can try the monitor on another computer or try a different monitor on your computer, you will have the answer. At the price new 18" widescreens are selling for (sub 100.00 in Canada), I would have a hard time justifying spending too much time or money trying to fix this one.

Hi...I have a Flatron W2234S that is about one year old. It has been problem free until recently when I moved. Now all of a sudden it comes on and immediately goes off and I have to turn it on and off 3 or...

You can take it apart and inspect for bulging capacitors - the tops should be perfectly flat. Even a slight bulge at the top is an indication that the capacitor is bad.

Most of these kinds of problems are created by using the different version than the current version of your video card driver.

Check your video card company's website and download the specific video card driver for your devide's ID and It should resolve the proble,

The monitor will turn on but only stays on for about 3 seconds

Maybe you guys should make sure the moniter is on the right input, because if moniters are on a wrong input then they go into sleep mode. If that doesn't work make sure that the cables are fully inserted! Hope I Helped!

Added a new video card, now my monitor stays in sleep mode

If the computer originally had integrated video, have you tried reconnecting the monitor to that output? Most system boards will automatically detect when you install a separate video card, but on some you need to disable the built-in video in the BIOS before the new card will work. Also, have you considered the chance you just got a lemon of a new card? It happens sometimes (it's happened to me!).

Won't come out of sleep mode

Have you tried getting a second monitor ? then using it to get to the desktop and go to power options and set your monitor to never turn off? after that is done try your monitor again and see if that works.
