This washing machine has been getting noisier and noisier up to it sounding like a jet taking off in the kitchen. Now when it spins it sounds like it has got a drum full of rocks. I dare not use it again as the last time i thought it was goung to blow up. any ideas of what is wrong with it?

MY WASHING MACHINE SOUNDS LIKE A JET TAKING OFF WHILE SPINNING. I EVEN TRIED TO SIT ON IT TO STOP IT FROM TAKING OFF...LOL.. BUT IT DIDN'T STOP THE AWFUL BANGING,THUMPING SOUND. THE DRUM FELT LIKE IT WAS BOUNCING OFF EACH SIDE OF THE WASHER WALLS. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

In addition to above comment it could also be the drum seal which needs replaced.

Hi, I have had the same problem but its a really easy fix. Put the machine on its side, remove the bottom, you will see 2 spring struts fixing the drum to the bottom of the chassis. These are fixed to the drum via 2 bolts and the same on the bottom. These gradually work loose and will need tightening with a 13mm spanner.

Thanks

Does the drum seem to be loose? If it is old/has been used a lot it might be the bearings holding the drum that are defect. try spinning the drum by hand and see if it makes grinding noises from where the drum is conected to the back.

SOUNDS LIKE JET PLANE WHEN IT GETS BY RINSE AN SPIN TIME

I assume you mean it sounds like a jet plane when it spins, if so, I suspect a bad tub bearing. Depending on age of the machine, probably too expensive to repair.

My whirlpool wtw4950xw2 top loader washing machine sounds like a jet taking off during spin cycle ... How can I fix it ?

You can unbalance the load more to get a quieter spin, but otherwise you may have a worn out gear system that produces more noise than the spinning tub itself. Check with service to determine the exact cause of the noise.

Hi I have an Aqualtis AQGMD149 which is getting noisier and noisier on the spin cycle, the instructions say to check it is level, is there anything else I can check?

Yes you can check the play in the drum bearing, by '"rocking" the inner drum up/down against the outer, there should be very little play. If it moves a lot your drum bearing needs replacing. Also take lid off and physically wobble/apply pressure the outer drum and inspect to make sure the springs and dampers are not allowing excessive movement which would allow the drum to 'crash' around as it tries to spin. A bit like checking car suspension. DISCONNECT MAINS BEFORE REMOVING LID
Easier to do all that than explain!

Aquarious wd63 washing getting grey stains at end of wash cycle

Hi.
Can you tell me? Does the washing machine sound noisier than normal in spin? Does it sound rough?

The grey marks could be drum bearing wear causing oil from the bearing to enter the washing machine. Sometimes you may see grey or black dots on your clothing.

If this is the case then repair cost is typically around £100 depending on where you live.

Hope this helps
