Won't start after flood

Our basement flooded for the first time ever (8 inches of water). In less than a day we drained the water. Our Kenmore gas dryer (model 79831) is not going on when the knob is pushed. Will it go on when it thoroughly drys? What can I do?

First I would remove motor and put it in an oven for a few hrs at min temperature like 200 degrees then I would remove motor centricical switch and push in the actuator tab a few times, then put it back in. Use a cheater cord plugged into pins 4&5 and see if the motor runs, it should.

im not sure that the patio would have much effect on flooding in the basement
hi precipitation this year and a higher than normal water table which is the lvel below ground that if you dig into starts to fill with water.

your problem is more likely a drainage issue are there any sump pumps in your basement or does it at least have a floor drain if so perhaps there is a clog

call a plumber and the patio contractor and have a professional determine the reason for the flooding

Basement was flooded and water cover electronics,
TURN OFF ELECTRICITY before touching gas or electric water heater this is or was flooded.

Replace flooded gas or electric water heater.
Warranty is void, all manufacturers say replace water heater, and even if parts are replaced, there is no guarantee that unit will work again.

Sorry to say but water ruined the motor. You can test it again by pushing the start button and at the same time spin the motor. If the motor starts that will tell you the start windings in the motor are bad. The motor would have to be replaced.
