Pioneer AVIC N2 XM NavTraffic problem

I reinstalled my unit recently due to having the ribbon cable replaced (recall), and now I cannot get NavTraffic to work?! I receive XM stations, but the N2 says that I am not receiving XM? Any suggestions?

I have an Avic-N2. The unit turns on but no picture on screen. I tried to fix the angle of the screen and its not working either. Also I tried to change the radio station but the joystick does not working side to side only when I press it up or down. I was told that the ribbon cable needs to be replace or flex cable. Please help me out. I was wondering if this item are replaceable for free or is there a recall.

Thank you hogan for your reply. I did what you told me to do and contact Pioneer but my other question is that I never mess with the unit or even touch it, mabye connection is loose? What you think. I have been notified by Pioneer to send it back to get the flex cable replace for free and awaiting for a reply if that is the case also for the ribbon cable. I just dont want to send the unit before not knowing what else is the problem. Thanks for your help and Ill keep you posted. Hope everything works out.

Did you try to contact Pioneer and express the problem? May be you should check all of your XM tuner bus cable, XM antenna and power wires connection see if they became loose when you removed it last time.

Notice: Upgraded Flex-Cable for Flip Screen in Navigation Models AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 To: January 3, 2007 Dear Valued Customer: Re: Upgraded Flex-Cable for Flip Screen in Navigation Models AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 We would like to inform you of a potential service issue with Pioneer's AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2, inform you of our plans to resolve this service issue, and ask for your help in notifying consumers. If a consumer is not experiencing any issues currently, there is no need for the consumer to take immediate action because the one-time fix to resolve the service issue will be available if an AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 later experiences the service issue. _Importantly, the service issue does not pose any health or safety risk._ Pioneer is aware of a potential issue with the flex-cable powering the flip screen to the AVIC-N1 and the AVIC-N2. After a number of power cycles, the cable has been observed to fail and cause the unit to malfunction (symptoms may include, but are not limited to, the flip-screen becoming blank) -- flex-cable failure can only be confirmed by Pioneer; standard service charges may apply for service issues not related to the flex-cable upgrade. This issue may affect almost all AVIC-N1 units and AVIC-N2 units. Please contact Pioneer at the number listed below if you have a question about whether your AVIC-N1 or AVIC-N2 unit is affected by this issue, or if a specific malfunction affecting your AVCI-N1 or AVIC-N2 is related to this issue. To address this issue, Pioneer is providing a one-time cable upgrade to consumers for their AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 at no charge to consumers for parts and labor. Pioneer will offer the free upgrade either upon request or automatically if an affected unit is serviced for another reason. Pioneer will exclusively perform the free cable upgrade for all units (i.e., no other service facility should perform the cable upgrade). If you own an AVIC-N1 or AVIC-N2 and you are experiencing the service issue, please contact Pioneer Customer Service toll free at 800-421-1603 to arrange for the cable upgrade. Pioneer service representatives are available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Eastern Time). Customers who have paid for the cable upgrade are eligible for reimbursement of certain service costs if sufficient proof of service can be provided -- please contact Pioneer at the above-listed phone number for more information regarding reimbursement rules. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this service issue may cause you, and we thank you for your cooperation and continued support of Pioneer. Does Pioneer still offer FREE replacement screen ribbon cables??

Yes they will replace the ribbon cable for free for only one time. but if you did the bypass mod they will unmod it and charge you $200 for doing it. In that case you better of send it to that guy Rich with Same Day Audio Service on Ebay, he will fix it with his company manufactured milspec ribbon cable for I think $85. His cables are much higher quality than Pioneer's and come with a free lifetime warrantee if you have it perform by him or you can purchase the cable from him and put it in by yourself but he won't guarantee it if you do. It not very hard to do if you are a little bit technical incline. I bought a few cables and replaced them myself with the Ribbon Cable Exhausted Tutor Guide on AVIC411.com, but I have figured out a much easier way to do it. Let me know if you need help. Goodluck to you.

Trying to add more audio equipment to my Pioneer Nav stereo

The Avic N2 is only XM ready not Sirius ready like the N3, which is SAT ready(both XM and Sirius). If you must have your Sirius the only option left for you is use the rear input on the hide away unit but you won't have it on the touchscreen. There is one more expensive option by have your N2 hardware upgrade to N3, some Ebayer have that service offer for about $275. It's done by replace a surface mounted chip with 70 plus leads. That would take some expert de-solder and solder skill with a solder torch or
a tech's heat gun. I can do it but I don't know which chip it is. I have an immaculate N3 for sale on Ebay. Maybe you could sell your N2 and buy an N3. I usually get about $550-$650 for an N2 depend on the condition. Hope that I did some help. You can call me at 801-414-4566, I would do anything I can. Goodluck.
