Make a folder for your music unless you have limewire folder with your music in it. First plug in the Sansa m230 into your usb port. You want to go to my computer on your desktop. You should see a Sansa m230 click that once or twice. Leave that file open you should see media file double click that you get an open browser leave it open and than minimize it. Now find the folder with your music files on it and highlight the song basically Im talking about holding your left side of your mouse down tell you see it highlight the song you want and than drag it into the sansa m230 browser that you minimized, hold the song over the folder and you should see the minimized folder open and than you drop the music file.

I dont usually mess around with real player when you dl or put your music on your computer put a shared folder in there and put all your music in there and then when you connect your mp3 player go to your shared folder and right click on the song when it comes up go to send to and it will give you a list it will say what ever you mp3 player is named and if you click that it will put your music on your mp3 player and if you couyld upgrade to at least a widows xp ~Grim

No Icon

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Downloading files from mp3 players

If the files are not on the PC, Windows Media Player will not see them. You can manually manage the music from My Computer. Double-click on the device name Sansa m230 and you can see the files and folder. You can just drag and drop these onto your computer to save them. You might also want to format the device to remove everything and give you a clean slate. Right Click on Sansa m230 and select format. Best of Luck.
