Color variation and blinking red light on bottom of tv
Having trouble adjusting color on the set. it is a 36 inch grand wega that is almost 7 years old. there is a blinking red light at the bottom of the set that blinks for 5 times quickly and then stops. the whites have become pink and the colors are horrible. the picture is also darkened...I have tried several times to adjust it but it doesnt help. can this be fixed? the set is too heavy to move...

The light flashing 5 times is normal at turn on as the set is monitoring current drain on the pictures tube cathodes. Any speakers near the set that have un-shielded magnets could possibly cause color issues.

this means you might have a shorted horz output or the power supply for the section isn't working i suspect the later as outputs don't usualy fail this way but the supply does, you have 3 supllies in that set and you will need to get a chip for it. not an easy job though as it is buried fairly deep on the main p.c.b. chip is mcz3001 i believe if memory serves well.
If a red light flashes for more than a few minutes,disconnect and reconnect the power cord.
Check the TV/VIDEO settings make sure you have inserted the batteries correctly to remote control. Try another channel to rule out of station trouble. if the problem continues may be a power supply problem.
