SOURCE: The TV doesn't power on.

The problem might be on your power supply section.

1. Check for open resistor or maybe a shorted transistor. Use a multimeter
2. Also check for a leak capacitor

Is the fuse you replace is still o.k? at times the blown fuse indicates that there is a short circuit on your t.v. Maybe the noise you hear is also because of a short circuit. Be careful in replacing fuse, always replace same type for the protection of you t.v

Hope this may help you

SOURCE: I have a Mitsubishi WD-60737.

Hello lily liver,
The problem with the television not being able to receive signal from the remote seems not to be too strange a problem as these devices can come up with mind bursting problems.
The problem with the television simply is from the sensor of the television. There is a metal that holds the televisions sensor so as for it to be able to receive signal from the remote. The metals could be rusty and break off the position where it is meant to be and would be having partial contact on the main board of the television.
The entire control panel is also linked to this sensor board, that is why it acts funny once in a while. The best thing to do is to have the control panel on the television replaced as well as the sensor light on the television. It is no longer receiving signal properly from the remote.
Resetting the television could last only for a period of time, therefore, the lasting solution to the problem is simply for you to have the control panel of the television replaced as well as the remote sensor that is in the television.
The solution to the problem is simply for you to replace the control board and the sensor of the television. That would solve the problem for you.
Hope this information was helpful in solving the problem. All the best Elect_Comp

SOURCE: tv doesn't pick up signal from remote

Hi Connie,

First of all, thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.
Please ensure that the battery is in good condition. Check the battery terminal for corrosion, Scratch it with fine sandpaper.
If the battery and its terminal is not the issue, please confirm if the remote control emits an infrared by pointing directly the sensor (infrared emitter) to your cellphone/digital camera. If it is working fine, you will be able to see the flash of the infrared through the screen of your camera. Watch the video below.

If you've confirmed that there's no infrared coming out from the remote control then this is an indication that the remote control itself is already faulty. Replace it with new one (part no. 0980-0305-3300 ).
If you can see the flash of the infrared, the IR board inside the TV is faulty. Please inquire at this link for replacement.

Hope I helped you.
Good luck and have a great day!

Why does TV turn off with the remote but won't stay off?

Greetings Charlotte,

All of the following assumes you are using the TV manufacturer provided remote ...
(ELSE: Get THAT remote, verify trouble & re-post fixya issue)

A few seconds is a really odd symptom (that's an IMMEDIATE cycle (2 power KEY HITS)... so before you rip into the electronic eye (Remote Recvr: tiny board at the control edge of your TV)... and/or change out the main power board...

(think... EVERYTHING else works remotely).

Try:
- unplug your set for at least ten minutes
- close the drapes (block sunlight from TV)
- find the receiver eye & remove ALL close obstructions
- check the remote & remove ALL covers/tape or soil.
- fresh batteries in the remote
- press power button as quickly as possible

Considering (I'm thinking)...

After MY studying HUMAN - MACHINE interface in a lifetime of trouble shooting... I came to know that when people become
VEXED by electronics... they tend to MASH buttons much-more deliberately (this can be a PROBLEM all by itself).

Critical timing on a button press used to be 500 to 900 milliseconds...

Meaning a longer press... went into special "handling" by program code (early software iteration (trial & errors).
((registered multiple KEY HITS = slower response, etc etc))

Your Remote Receiver is designed to register a continuous press (ON THE REMOTE) as ONE KEY HIT regardless of the DURATION... however

Any soil on the set (receiver) or remote (transmitter)...
visual objects, vases, mirrors... even sun-light can significantly change operation... as can TIRED BATTERIES (in the remote).

Failing all the cheap & easy suggestions above comment me back (+make & model) and I'll point you to procedures to get into your TV.

Hope this helps

No channel set up

Hi, try pressing the "closed caption" button on the remote. I hope that works. If this doesn't work try getting your TV's SE-R0305 Operating manual and reading through it and it might be able to help you. You will be surprised at how much information is in the TVs manual.

My telefunken tv works and I can watch tv by using the buttons on the side of the tv, but when I try to use the remote it only registers that i'm pressing 1... no matter what button i press. any

AH! I have fixed a lot of remote controls in my career. I would suspect something may have got spilled onto the top of the remote and got inside under the front rubber like buttons you press.

You have a few clear choices here: find a tech or a shop who can take the remote apart(they can also test the remote) and clean it properly and put it back together.

I would do that before looking to buy another remote---if the side buttons work the set is ok--issue is with the remote.

Please use the make a comment button on this page if you want more information or help.

No matter what button I press, it says 'locked' on the TV screen. How do I unlock it?

Try holding down the Menu button on the remote for at least 5 seconds, the child lock is on, If this doesn't work go to samsung website and find your user manual and follow the procedure they suggest.

I have a ge universal remote and a panasonic tv but i dont have the directions on how to program it or what the codes are to set it up. i need step by step instructions.please help

There are two types of GE universal remotes. Does your remote use the 4-digit code or the 3-digit code?

These codes listed below are not for combination TVs (TV/VCR, or TV/DVD). If you have a combination tv, see the appropriate code list here: http://www.jascoproducts.com/support/universal-remote-codes.asp .

The 3 digit codes for Panasonic TVs are 003, 054, 055, 062, 070, 148, 149, 170, 171, 374, 381, 437 . If you have an LCD or Plasma Panasonic only try 170.

The 4 digit codes to try for Panasonic TVs are 1182, 0171, 0148, 0054, 0170, 0062, 0374, 0381, 0437, 0950, 0003, 0070 .

Next to program the remote: Turn on the TV manually. Press and hold the Code Search or Setup button (depending on your remote). Hold the button until the indicator light comes on and then release it. Then press and release the TV button. Type in the first code for your remote and TV combination. The indicator light should go off. Then point the remote at the TV and see if the TV turns off. If it doesn't, repeat the above steps. Once you have a code that seems to work, check if the remote controls all of the functions that you need (based on the available buttons on the remote). If you have a code that turns off the TV but doesn't control other functions, continue trying other codes.

There is an option to search through all of the codes of the remote to program the remote. Press and hold the Code Search or Setup button. Release the button when the indicator light comes on. Then press and release the TV button. Now press and release the Power button on the remote repeatedly and wait until the TV turns off. Do this slowly (pressing the Power button every 2 seconds). When the TV turns off, press Enter on the remote to save the code. Then test the remote. If the remote doesn't control all the functions of the TV that you want it to, then repeat the search.

Please note that the codes in most universal remotes are limited to those for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. If your remote is older than your TV, then you may need a new remote.

I hope this helps.

Can't get "no signal" off

Hey cthaemar, it sounds like it may have been switched off the correct channel. If it is hooked up with a Coaxial cable it will be on channel 3 or 4, and if it is hooked up with an AV cable then it would be on one of the inputs.

If it's channel 3 or 4 try pressing the gray TV button on the remote and changing the channel. If that doesn't work you may need to use the TV's remote or the TV itself.

If it's on an input press the same gray TV button and then try pressing Input. With this you can also try the TV remote or the TV itself to change those if our remote doesn't change it.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

Need IR code for Hisense 32" LCD tv to program

Are you referring to the iPhone/iPad app? if yes then this is not a remote app, it's a management app made for Comcast boxes and nothing else it doesn't controls tv's.
If you are referring to the actual remote for one of the Comcast boxes then it all depends on what model of remote you have and the exact model of your tv - some will support it thru the use of a Daewoo or Samsung code, others don't.
So you have 2 options:
1 - you try every Daewoo and Samsung code you have in the manual and if that fails you do a code scan on the remote as explained in the manual:
Turn on your TV
Press the TV button on the top of the remote, then press and hold Setup until the TV light blinks twice
Enter 9-9-1 and the TV button will blink twice
Press and release 1 and the TV button will blink twice
Point the remote at the TV, press and release the Power button, then press the CH+ button multiple times until the TV turns off
Press Setup once to lock in the code and the TV button will blink twice
If even that fails - the tv doesn't shuts down - then the remote is incompatible to the tv so
2 - you get a remote that is compatible with both. The only one i could find is

Remote doesn't work even with new batteries

make sure the remote batteries are in the correct + and - way. It could also be that the remote is broken. If nothing comes on when you press the power button and the tv doesn't respond, then the remote is broken and you should buy another one.

I am not getting any picture from the tv. dvd and radio is working fine.

press the AV button on the remote control & if it doesn't work, look for the TV button on the remote control; & if it doesn't work again, check the booklet that comes w/ the tv upon purchasing it or bring your tv to where you bought it & make use of the guaranty voucher for them to fix it for free, (try those buttons first before bringing it back to the store).
