Philips go gear sa3245/97 not starting

You can download content to a Philips GoGear multimedia player using Windows Media Player or MusicMatch Jukebox in Windows. Earlier versions of Windows starting with 2000/ME and XP are compatible with GoGear. If the device is not recognized by the Windows XP operating system or is receiving error messages, you may have older versions of the necessary software installed. There also may be firmware issues with the GoGear device.

Instructions

Connect the Philips GoGear to another USB port on the computer. Sometimes USB ports go out, especially those in the front of the computer case. Try inserting the GoGear into another port and see if XP can now recognize the device.

Download Service Pack 1 or later for the XP operating system (see Resources). Philips GoGear can only operate on XP systems with at least Service Pack 1 installed. You may also receive an error message pertaining to the service pack when trying to insert the installation disc for the GoGear support software.

Install the latest version of Windows Media Player. Philips GoGear requires at least Windows Media Player 11. Windows Media Player 11 is available for XP .

Install the latest version of MusicMatch Jukebox (see Resources). Earlier version of this software may be causing error messages regarding missing MP3 tag information and missing tracks. Follow the download prompts, then unzip the folder and click on the "HDD_xxx.exe" installation file. The latest version of the software will be installed.

Install the latest firmware on the Philips GoGear. The actual firmware required depends on your GoGear model. Open either Philips Device Manager or Songbird, depending upon which management software you are currently using. Close all programs on the computer except for the Device Manager/Songbird. Connect the GoGear to the power supply and the computer. Click the "Repair" tab in the Device Manager and click "Repair," or click "Tools" in Songbird and select "Check for updated firmware," and the firmware will be updated on the GoGear.

Connect the PSS110 to the mains and PC, when the Philips Device Manager registers that the device is connected click on the Restore option, and follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format the device and replace the corrupted firmware.

Musicmatch Jukebox shows just PSS instead of PSS110.

This is the LEAST of your problems - the official MusicMatch service was cancelled in October 2007, so you are only going to get limited functionality out of this player in the first palce. If the jukebox is working, don't mess with it. If it is not working:
Download the newest version of the Philips Device Manager:
www.usasupport.philips.com - change your country/language as needed
Enter in your exact model #
Click on the link for your exact model #
Click on the Software & Drivers section
Click on "Firmware Upgrade Software"
Install the new Device Manager
Open and run the "Repair" tab

MY GOGEAR MP3 PLAYER IS NOT FORMETING

Run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager - it is your only hope. If a message comes up saying, "Failed to Repair Device," then this player is done. This is a legacy mp3 player that is ruined by connecting it to a computer that is running either Windows Vista or Windows Media Player 11. It was tied to a MusicMatch Jukebox service that was cancelled in October 2007. Philips is no longer issuing firmware upgrades for this player, and a firmware upgrade will not resolve your issue. Sorry.

Problem accessing songs on Philips HDD065/05 Jukebox

What you have to do is this: 1) The HDD Detection tool Connect the device to the PC, load up Musicmatch. On the left click "Portable Device" tab, wait for the PC to show your device. The device should show as "Philips GoGear" if it's showing as "Philips Nike" go to "Tools" on the right, click "Settings" click drop-down menu & choose GoGear. You need to do this everytime you transfer files. If that doesn't work, you need to do this: 2) Manual Re-Install You can re-install the player manually by doing this : - connect the player to your pc by USB cable - uninstall all Installed software for the player - remove device from Windows Device Manager : - Desktop - right click on "My Computer" - select Properties from the menu a new windows appears: System Properties - click on the tab "Hardware" - click on "Device Manager" a new window appears" The Device Manager navigate to the player (should be shown as Philips Nike) at the USB Devices - right click on the player - select "un-install" from the menu - Windows will unsinstall the device - If the player is not listed, the device has been deleted Now to edit the Windows Registry: (Note: Mistakes cannot be un-done so be VERY careful) 1. Disconnect all usb devices. 2. Go to the registry (Start -> Run -> type "regedit") 3. Make a backup of the registry -click "file" -click "export" -Search/Create a logical location ("C:\REGBACKUP" for example) -choose a filename ("registry backup Date.reg" for example) -Please pay attention if Export range is set to "All" -click on save 4. Click on the + infront of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -Click the + of SYSTEM -Click the + of CurrentControlSet -Click the + of Enum -Click the + of USB Here you can remove all VID``s -Before you remove the VID you have to set the right permissions, this can be done as follows: Right click on the folder USB and click on "Permissions", select in the window that pops-up Everyone and and select "Full control" at the permissions. 5. Reboot PC without ANY USB devices connected - install the software and plugins - connect the device to your pc by usb Check if device works and if still showing as "Philips Nike" try the first step again. Hope this helps, Weedy
