Question about Apple MacBook Air

Macbook Air No Sound

For a month now I've had a problem with the sound on my Macbook Air stopping randomly.  Up until now, my solution has been to restart.  This has worked until today, when the speaker image on the volume is grayed out and will not even go up or down.  No output device is listed under sounds.
I have updated all Mac software and am in the process of repairing permissions, but I'm still not sure that it will be repaired.

It sounds like the sound card on the main board has gone out. Since you have a Mac Airbook, I will almost guarantee that it is still under warranty and you should be able to go to apples website and make an appointment with the Genius Bar at the local store and then have them repair it for you. Back up any important data before you do this, including your itunes music collection and your photos.

Yes and after 3 or 4 months you'll the same problem again like i did! My book Air was fixed 3 times for the same reason, it was replaced for a new one and guess after 4 months i've the same problem, it looks like Macbook Airs are faulty, is Apple using low quality cables and charging top prices? Apple is not the same quality as it used to be... The solution is to complain to Apple and demand the quality worth the money you paid for your laptop

SOURCE: Macbook Air No Sound

Sounds like one of the cables inside is not connected correctly or something along those lines so I would get apple to get it repaired ( which may cost a fair amount )

My macbook air does not play any sound anylonger, it suddenly stop working and a circle with a line inside appears when I try to increase or decrese the volume...?

You laptop may have sound prefs set to external speakers, or if there is a red light coming from the headphone jack. the mac thinks the headphones are still there.
Plug in and unplug the headphones an see if the red light goes out. may take a couple of times. Be gentle

External speakers do not work on my MacBook pro

Plug in your external speakers then go to system preferences then sound when in the sound control panel go to the output tab and select the external speakers as the device for sound output and of course at the bottom of the control panel make sure that the mute check box is unchecked and turn up the volume. Hope this helps

The loading 'logo' wont disappear. pls help.

Hold the power button down. Keep it down until the unit powers off. Then press power to start the machine up, and as soon as you hear the starting chime (boooong) press Command+Option+P+R and keep them held down until you hear the startup sound 3 times. Then you can let go and it should start normally.
