Computer does not recognize coby mp705

I have plugged my coby mp705 into my computer via the usb cable. It charged, but my computer does not recognize it. My computer briefly shows the symbol for something being connected via usb port, but then it disappears. The manual says to open "My Computer" and that the device will be listed under "Audio Devices", but there is nothing.

I updated my drivers, but it did not fix the problem. My computer still does not "see" the mp3 player.

When I try to sync it using Windows Media player - it does not show a device to sync to. It says connect a device.

Remove the device, swear a few times, promise your son you'll buy him a proper ipod, then give it to the dog to play with.

(Open Device Manager)
Click START
Right-click on "My Computer"
Go to Properties
Go to Hardware
Click "Device Manager"

(Bring down list on Universal Serial Bus controllers)
Right-click on the first one and click "Update Driver"
Do the same to the rest under that list

I had the same problem. I tried two different USB ports on the front of my pc. Same results. I then try a USB port from my USB hub and the computer instantly recognized the player. Try all your USB ports and see if that works.

you know the hold button on mp3 player? while connected to the computer, move it to the left until it says hold and it stays there... or if its already on hold move it to the right until its stuck on start symbol

or move it to the right and left vs left or right..

it worked after i played with it for a while...
now if you wait 30 seconds it may or may not reappear :o

Coby mp3 player

Try to reset it if possible.
If the computer charges it then the computer recognizes it as a connected device. That's how usb works. It could be you need a new USB cable. Many devices that use USB for charging do not have the data leads connected in their cables. This is called a "vampire" connection as it only sucks 5 volts DC from the computer/charger .

Hi, go to the Setup menu, then to System, then USB Mode. You can select either MSC or Auto; try MSC first. I've noticed the same problem with my computer, and I can get around it by changing that setting. If it doesn't work on MSC then switch to Auto. Worth a try!

Windows not Recognizing COBY MP705-8G

Make sure you have plugged your Coby MP3 player into a USB 2.0 port. The Coby does not support the USB 1.0 standard. If you are getting an error that "This device can perform faster..." your port is an older USB type. I have both types on my computer and the Coby would not install until I plugged it into my 2.0 port.

Hope this helps.

Just drag files from Windows Explorer to device make sure that when you open up device that there are the categories: music, pictures, video, playlist. Drag video to video on device, drag ebooks to playlist. Also, confirm this with Coby Media Manager.

Can I charge my Coby mp705 using a AC adapter?

Yes you can but you need to find a 3.7(whatever the voltage is) and the right size. Its risky. But at wal mart they sell this usb charger. U plug it in to the wall outlet and it would act like your computer usb slot.

Computer wont reconize coby mp705

I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

If the unit is not being recognized by your computer, try using one of the USB ports on the rear of your computer tower. If it still isn't recognized by your computer, unfortunately, it needs to be replaced. The unit can not be fixed. The warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. You would need the receipt in order to receive a warranty replacement.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

Coby MP705 not being recognized by computer.

You need to plug it into a USB 2.0 port. The 1.0 (or 1.1) standard does NOT work.

Unable to charge unit (brand new)

Hello,

Are you on a laptop? Only possible issue is that with laptops, most have a feature which disables the power on the USB ports if not used frequently..besides that, if you plug the unit into the USB port, it should charge, if not, you have a faulty battery.

Coby accepts gifts for warranty, they just need a letter head showing you received it as a gift and they will replace the unit, see below for requirements:

What you need to send:

$6 Money Order -Made out to 'Coby Electronics' 'return shipping fee'
Letterhead showing you received unit as a gift
Note with your name, address, phone#, description of issue
Unit with all the accessories

Send to:
