Question about Kodak EasyShare Z740 Digital Camera

I turn on the camera , it works for about 10 seconds then turns off.

I think the camera is going into standby or power-saver or something. I turn it on , then the lens should expand, that doesn't happen , but right after that it turns itself off. I have checked the batteries, through various tests and am satisfied that they are working fine.Help

It sounds like I have the same problem.. when I turn it on.. lens expand out.. lights come on.. then 1/2 second later.. it turns itself off.. every now and then , i can ake one picture... then it turns itself off. I know is not battery, coz I'v changed it several times...

same exact problem, also tried changing batteries to no avail, one pic, (if I'm lucky) then nothing...think that I will call kodak

Thank YOU for responding. My husband is good at taking things apart and reassembling them. He asked how do you "free the lens mechanism?" And how did you know that was the problem?

It sounds like the lens is jammed. This happened to mine about 4 days after I got it. It was a bad mix of my carelessness and my sons. Anyway, I never buy extended warranties and it probably wouldn't have covered it anyway. I decided that repairs at a camera shop would be close to or more that it cost. Either way, it was going to be a loss, so I took it apart carefully and freed the lens mechanism up myself. It worked and the camera still takes great pictures two years later!!! I would only suggest this if you are competent with taking things apart and reassembling them. Good Luck!!!

The lens mechanism is damaged- perhaps through a bump or a drop. Either way a repair is not likely to be economic. Check out Kodak Customer Support especially if it is a young camera- but I guess it will be time for a new camera

Its going to sleep mode after 5 mins or going to standby if you are not working on it. you can on it by moving mouse or pressing any key on keyboard if it gone to sleep mode .You can press power button to make it on if its gone to standby. To disable this Right click on any empty space on desktop and go to screen saver tab and click on Power button . There in Power Scheme tab , make all options to NEVER and press Apply and OK.Now it will work fine. Options are turnoff monitor, turn off hard disk , System standby , system hibernates etc

When I take the computer out of the standby mode

Try this:

Update the BIOS and Video driver to the most current on http://support.dell.com
Disable the screen saver
Enable HIBERNATE instead of standby in Power settings, set the LCD to go off in 10 minutes, HDD to 15 and Hibernate in 20.

Select Shutdown, Hibernate
then try and restart

If no GO, disconnect all peripheral items except KB

Try hibernate again and restart.

If all works OK, add items back one at a time till you find item causing issue. If no go, replace power supply if issue still occurs, replace MB

Try this. Go to your tools menu, look for something like power saver or display off and change the duration that the screen stays on.

I want to watch a movie on my pc but it goes into sleep mode 20 minutes into the movie. How can i change the settings. It displays (auto input interjection) how can i change it?

Turn off your screensaver from your desktop settings, and modify your power control settings from within control panel. Alternately, you can make a conscious effort to move the mouse every 19-1/2 minutes. I think I would change the settings.

In the camera setup menu there is an option which says power saver......increase the time frame in power saver...it will solve the problem

PS3 picture doesn't work

Alright I went thru the ps3 faqs, here is my solution. You have to do the following.

1. When the system is in standby mode (power button is red), you press and HOLD the button for about 10 seconds, basicaly until it turns off again. It may be more than 10 seconds but not more than 20. Yes I know it sounds a lot but trust me. Then simply press the power button again (remember it must go from red to green to red again, and u will hear a rough noise as if the system was turned off i.e. like you unplugged it). So press the power button, wait a bit for it to adjust the outpt settings and you should be good to go. :)

Digital TV Converter keeps shutting off

The DTA800 has a Power Saver feature that turns the unit off after 4 hours if it is idle (no volume or channel changes).

Press MENU button, press #5 (Setting/Configuration), press #3 (Power Saver) Select OFF to de-activate this feature (no Power Saver).

This is covered on page 11 of the DTA800 user manual.

New Dell desktop computer - installed Norton Security 2007 - sreensaver and energy modes don't work

Since Norton and many other virus protection programs run in the background of the computer, when you try to go into standby mode, or screen saver mode, the program is recognized as an action by the user, hence triggering the computer to return to normal use. So all you have to do is turn off Norton before you go into standby mode, and this should fix the problem.

Computers' power light is blinking and will not power on

This normally means that the computer is in standby mode all you need to do is press the power button. If this does not work then hold the power button in for about 10 seconds until the computer turns off then wait a further 10 seconds and turn back on and boot normally.

Please let me know it this works and please rate me. Once you booted normally set the power options within control panel not to go into standby.

Standby Mode

Go to control panel then power options>power schemes and see if system standby is enabled, it may have changed if done some major updates. also turn off screen saver if on as this may bring it out of standby
