SOURCE: Treo 650 keyboard stuck

Sure. This involves taking the phone apart. Fortunately, it isn't difficult. Go to "mytreo.net, and find the BUZZ FIX. It will give you instructions with photos of how to open your 600 and perform the BUZZ FIX. Do that while you have the phone open. You will disconnect the battery in that process. Carefully lift the board that the battery is mounted on and this will expose the KEYPAD. Remove it, clean the keypad, and the pressure contacts below it -- carefully with a Q-tip and a little water and perhaps a little alcohol. Put the keypad back in place. Put the board back in place. Reconnect the battery after performing the BUZZ FIX (you may as well do it while you have the unit apart because you will have the buzz sooner or later). Put the case back together. Tighten the screws. Turn the unit on and make a call. If it doesn't work then you are in trouble.

Sadly the chances are not high. the bootload screen tells you that Palm OS has not even loaded, assuming you have tried a soft reset this would suggest that the devices memory is either inaccessible or damaged. Anything you try is going to be a slim chance but what do you have to lose by trying? If you reset your palm with it plugged in to your PC via a USB cable there's a small chance you may force it to act as a USB memory reader, as such it will show up in My Computer as a drive or if you have a memory card in the phone it will show up as 2 drives. I cannot stress enough that this is a slim chance though. If you are familiar with telnet and serial data communications it is stall possible to access a palm this way and possibly find your data, however this is a very involved procedure that will require a steep learning curve if you don't know what I'm talking about and still represents a very slim chance.

Language settings

Bueno, trata lo siguente:
If you purchased the Treo in the U.S., you should have the English to Spanish option when you reset the phone. Just make sure to back up your data before resetting it.

HotSync the Treo 650 to your computer to ensure that you have all of your information backed up. You will lose everything on your Treo 650 with a hard reset.
Step2Press and hold down the red phone key on the right side of the Treo 650 keyboard until the Palm screen appears. This will begin the hard reset. Step 11Let go of the red phone button when you see the Palm screen. Step 2Read the screen prompt carefully. It will ask you to press the up arrow key to proceed with the hard reset or the down arrow key to abort. Press the up arrow to continue with the hard reset. Step 3Wait for the phone to reboot. When it comes back on, it will ask you to select a language and walk you through the same introductory screens you saw when you first got the phone. Step 4HotSync your Treo 650 to your computer. When prompted, select your old username to restore all of your contacts and information. This should complete the hard reset process. jQuery('.Article .Steps .Image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); }); Tips & Warnings
  • Do not forget to back up your data before performing the hard reset. If you don't, only the data from your last HotSync will be able to be recovered.
  • After performing a hard reset, install your applications one at a time to make sure each is in working order. Delete any applications that are not in working order, as those might have caused the need for the hard reset in the first place.
Buenas Suerte,

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks,
Joe Diaz

Palm Treo Rebooting After send an Text/SMS

Hello, hope it helps (from http://www.chaddickerson.com/blog/2006/05/19/what-to-do-when-sending-an-sms-makes-your-treo-650-reboot/)

The application that causes the reboot varies, but it’s always the same error related to the message store. Here’s how you fix it (and beware — this deletes all the text messages on your device!):
  1. If you don’t already have it, you need to download and install FileZ on your Treo. All this does is give you access to all the files on the Palm OS filesystem. This is a tool that must be used very carefully, since you can move, copy, and delete any files on the Treo, even ones you didn’t know were there. It’s one of the most useful Treo utilities you can have.
  2. Run FileZ on your phone and choose “View and Edit Files.” In the next screen, you should see “Internal” under Filename. It might also say “ROM.” If you have an SD Card, you should also see “External” or “SD Card.”
  3. Click on the little wedge beside “Internal” to expand the list of files on your Treo.
  4. Find Messages Database and delete it (you do this by checking it, choosing “Details,” and then clicking “Delete”)

Complete uninstall of palm desktop?

How I uninstalled Palm Desktop for the 7135: Suggest this step: 1) Find your Palm files, all of them, most likely /Program Files/Palm, and make a copy of the folder, call it Palm Backup. That should leave all of your existing information as is, just in case 2) Using the control panel, find and remove Palm Desktop (Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Applications) 3) Suggest you optionally reboot. 4) Now do the install of your new Palm Treo 650 software. This is what I did, and all is well. I had different problems when I decided to go back to my 7135. Seems that using the same techniques does NOT remove the PalmOne software, lots of residual modules, and even if I did a delete of the entire Palm directory, there must be links everywhere. The 650 has extraordinary capabilities, but in the end, I went back to my 7135.

Synching treo 650 with 600

In a nutshell, make sure you have a recent synch to your PC of the 600. Install the Treo 650 desktop software Synch to the username of the 600 Your are done. You should rename the Treo 600 or hard reset it (you will get data corruption if you synch two devices with the same username to one PC). If you are paranoid, you can make a backup copy of your c:\program files\palm\ folder to begin with. This contains most of your settings and extra software on the 600. As you are an Outlook user, your personal data is probably in a PST file or it is stored in Exchange.
