I just bought an e280. I turned it on and it worked fine, then uploaded some music. It was connected to the computer, and said "connected" on it. Then I walked away for a second, and when I came back it was off. It wouldn't turn on when I pushed the power button, and doesn't do anything when I replug it. So it was working fine, the suddenly stopped and I can't turn it on at all. If anyone could help me, I'd really appreciate it.
Thats really weird !!!
solution 1: Try hard resetting it (thats putting everything back to like when you bought it). To do that hold the power button 15 seconds.
solution 2: If you just bought it, i would say to bring it back at the store you bought for an exchange or refund.

I have a e250 and it works great with my laptop which is running window vista. One thing i do remember missing with is the usb setting on the mp3 player. Maybe you can try switching between the usb opinions to see if that will fix your problem. the usb setting screen is under "setting", "usb mode".
The device has 2 modes on it MSC and MTP, if you changed modes and uploaded songs in the other mode, they are only visible on the PC in that mode. But, the PC will show the total amount of free space on the device.
If this is not the issue, I would try formatting your device to remove everything and start over.
You can FORMAT thru My Computer>Device Name (e280)>Right Click and select FORMAT.
Best of Luck.

I don't know if you've inadvertently deleted the music folder, but that's what I did, when I deleted all the folders by mistake, thank heavens for in-store warrenty, they replaced it with another one. What I noticed on my replacement is synchronizing with media player doesn't work, it creates ghost folders and thinks music is there when it isn't, I don't understand it.
Solution: open two windows for my music and sansa e280 music, then just drag and drop the folders;
what I noticed is that in my music the folders are named by artist, and I prefer to see them by album, but when I view them in the player, I see the albums with the tracks in the right order.
Select all music while on you windows and right click on them , then go to "Summary" tab. Check if your music's dates are right.
If not Ok. then check the date settings with your Sansa e280.
If all dates are set .. then you should have the your music working fine.
Not working ? I recommend a firmware update.
