My husband and I recently purchased a Quickcam Pro 5000 for his parents so they can video chat with our son. We have iMac with iSight and login to chat via iChat. They use a Windows operating system and login to chat using AOL. Everytime we invite each other to chat, we get an error message that there is a communication error. iChat's "Help" feature" doesn't really explain the problem or a possible remedy and we are truly at a loss. We have had successful other video chats with other people on our buddy lists previously and since, but those people might have Macs, as well. Is there a documented problem with Mac users not being able to communicate with Windows users? If so, is there something that can be done? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm assuming when you say they login with AOL, that you mean they use AOL Instant Messenger, since iChat is compatible with that. If that is the case, it should work. As long as the chat clienta are compatible, there should be no issue with using a Mac and a PC.

To use a Logitech camera on your Mac OS X computer, please purchase a Logitech camera that is UVC compliant, this camera will have basic functionality for use with a third party application but no additional features will be available such as (Rightlight, Rightsound or Video Effects)
All UVC Complaint Webcams listed in table below
This article applies to the following platforms: Macintosh OS X 10.4.9 - 10.5.2
The Logitech webcams listed below are UVC (Universal Video Class) compliant and can be used with operating systems which fully support this standard; including Mac OS 10.4.9 and above.
Please note that standard UVC drivers are provided by the Operating System and will provide minimal camera support only. Unique Logitech features, such as RightLight and Video Effects are not functional via UVC drivers.
Furthermore, we recommend the use of a full Logitech installation package, where available, for supported operating systems such as Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Well the thing is with Digital Camera If there is lots going on (on the computer) your other program might interfer 1st end all processes that might have anything to do with the camera or that may be using any of its features, I would retart your computer as well If you still have any issue uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the camera.
But I'm thinking you might have too much going on in the computer at the same time

Hi what you have to do is "Open Port(s)" in your Firewall. I have found a tutorial link below to help.
Simply you need to find out which "Port(s)" ya need "Open" then "Open" these "Port(s)" through the Windows Firewall, & OR any Other... by following the tutorial & use that/those "Port Number(s)" for real.
I believe for Yahoo the "Ports" needed to be "opened" are. Both UDP/TCP 5000 to 5010. Meaning open 10 "Ports" through ya Firewall.
