What clever project must i do for a Eskom expo science project to win ?

Try looking at the previous winners. That will give you clues to what the judges think are important. But don't copy any ideas.
Think about something that people could use, or it solves a problem. Perhaps it does something that has been done before, but in a unique way.
The rest is down to how clever you are and LUCK!

Just a science project for a 14 yr old a simple emergency frequency scanner. Is there a kit or something?

Nothing that Ive seen for a scanner, probably too advanced for a 14yo. Usually an AM/FM radio or other type solar kits, try this link. I'.m sure you'll find somehting interesting. I remember when I was 14, we couldn;t afford these types of things and I would have loved to have had them. Good luck on the project. You can also Google solar powered kits to see if anything else comes up, I'm sure their are 100's if not 1000's of kits out there.
