Well, this is just stupide

Our printer was working perfectly until last week. I replaced the cartiges and it continued to work fine but suddenly, nothing...no ink on the pages other than when I tried to print out the page that would align after replacing the ink. Lots of words to say...it acts right but no printing OTHER than the new alignment sheet.

I had the same problem with the stupid alignment page.  It kept saying I had to print an alignment page and when I did it said it wasn't aligned.  The gobbledigook on the page looked fine to me :P.

It wouldn't print anything else.  I switched which usb port the printer was plugged in into, I turned the printer off and on, unplugged it, replugged it in, and it finally worked and went back to normal.  I didn't have to reinstall software.

John, here, at Dell headquarters. A few suggestions that may help: First, make sure the printer is not plugged into the front USB ports on the system. Sounds strange, but that sometimes makes a difference. Second, unplug the printer, restart the system, then plug the printer into a different USB port. That may fix the problem as well. Third, uninstall and reinstall the printer software. That could also do the trick. If none of these suggestions work, I'd recommend calling our tech support.

Those are cartridge errors, the chip on the front tells the printer how much ink is left, when you refill, you also need to reset or replace the chip on the cartridge, or you will keep getting errors.
