Sony DAV-FC9 Home Theater Trouble

I have had the Sony DAV-FC9 Home Theater for 18 months and yesterday it started showing a black wide screen box over any DVD I try to play. No matter what you do the box stays on the screen unless you fast forward a movie and then it doesn't show the box. I've tried using different movies and the results are the same. Has anyone experienced this problem? Please help, Glenn

I believe they call that the top menu. If you go through the menu options, you should be able to turn that off. Next option to try, do a factory reset. In the owner's manual, search for factory reset. If you no longer have the manual, it should be on Sony's website. I don't have a solution, but I am willing to buy your receiver if you are willing to sell it?

I can hear sound from a DVD, but not from the television through my sony dav-fc9 system

What kind of audio input from the TV are you using? The input you are using may be assignable, meaning it can handle analog, digital(coaxial or optical) or HDMI. Make sure it is set appropriately. For more information, or should you have further questions, please visit my website, audioserviceclinic.com. You can contact me through the website. Thank you.

Sony dav fc9 (dvd player) with no red color. TV plays fine with reds.

It would all depend on what type of input cable you are using. If your unit is using component cables, please follow the suggestion from vafenton216. If that doesn't correct your problem, you may have a decoding issue, again, depending on the output cable you are using. Ringing noise

try changing the cable going out of tv to the system for audio, make sure the cable from tv/sat receiver is in audio out and in dvd player in the Audio In under the Video 1 bracket, then when you turn on the system click function button on the front panel it will show Video 1 on the LCD and that should work.

Black box showing up while viewing DVDs

Go to your TV remote, in the menu find the closed caption or sometimes it is on the remote itself. Turn off the closed caption. this should solve your problem. Good Luck
