SOURCE: fr50 beep

Hello mtnrvr,

The Motorola TalkAbout radios, especially the FR50 and FR60, are notorious for making a variety of beeps when you push buttons and activate various functions of the radio.

The beeps can be helpful when you are trying to operate the radio in low-light situations. But they can also be mildly irritating.

Sadly most models of TalkAbout do not provide any way to disable the beeps. I'd suggest not using this particular radio for covert surveillance missions.

Best Regards,

SOURCE: talkabouts not communicating

What you have described is typical of the radios not being on the same frequency and/or code. If you know how to put your radios in programming mode, set all the frequencies and codes to the same number, then they will work together. If you still have the owners manual it will describe this process. Usually with a TalkAbout radio it consists of holding in the PTT while turning the radio on.
As you are probably aware, the radio will have approx. 14 frequencies installed. You can usually select these easily from the front panel. The second number you see in the corner of the screen when you turn on the radio is the "code". This is an interference eliminator. All of your radios need to be set to the same code to work correctly together. If you find one or more of your radios does not have "code", simply set those that have "code" to zero.

Hi Fred,

Take your radio to your local Radioshack or similar store and the folk there should be able to assist you in the hunt of the part you require.

Hopefully this is helpful to you.

Motorola fr50 red flight flashing quickly

Hi Kenny,

While the red light is blinking, is there someone else talking on the 2-way?

If the answer is yes, that's the reason it's blinking, because it's telling you that the channel is in use...

I hope this answers your query.

Cheers,
Peter

Talk button sticks

The FR50 is a disposable radio. You will need to replace it. (Sorry)

Dont know what the buttons on the front of the Motorola Radius sp50.

Hello Peedi Krack,

There are two buttons on the front of the Motorola SP50.

MON - This key is a Monitor button. It temporarily disables the squelch control so you can hear any muted or weak signals being sent on the channel. This enables you to ensure the channel is clear before you transmit.

OPT - This button controls Optional functions that might be programmed into the radio, such as channel scan.

Additionally your radio might also have a DTMF keypad (similar to a telephone keypad) depending on which version of the SP50. If installed, the DTMF keypad would be used for signaling and controlling devices over the air.

Best Regards,
Ken

Neither radio will receive or send

The radio probably needs reprogrammed to match the other units. Check your owners manual for instructions.
