Question about Toshiba Satellite C655-S5068 Notebook
Don't try to have it welded, it won't ever be right again! Your best bet on a hinge is Ebay or a computer shop in the area that sells used laptops. Don't let them sell you one if they don't have one in stock, chances are they are going to get it off Ebay and mark it up 40% just for you. This link should provide the info you need for disassembling your machine.

Maybe the cables are not connected, they may be disattached to the hard disk or optical drive. You can try opening the bottom of your laptop, it usually has a hard disk vent, when you unscrew the cover, you'd see the hard disk, and you could connect it. If this doesn't help, the boot manager of the OS might be corrupted, you should insert your setup disk and choose start up repair.

SOURCE: how to restore a toshiba
there is a system partition on the laptop that allows you to return the laptop back to how you got it from the shop. Please be aware that you will need to copy anything you have on there to an external drive otherwise it will be deleted on completion of the restor. When you first switch the laptop on hit the f11 key then choose repair your computer and choose reset to factory
