Question about Bose SoundDock digital music system Docking Station for iPod - White (35703)
Also I have problems with the volume buttons. If I push one time on the + button, it goes fom very low to very high. Bought a couple of years ago, two new remotes and they both did not work for my "old " one. Can live with that. Always took care for my sounddock, still looks new and clean, always loves Bose items and have emotional problems to throw this one in the garbage bin.
Have two Bose docking stations and the oldest (white) one have some problems now. When I put in one of my iPods in the docking, the speakers make some weird, creaky noises. Kind of a sound, when I'm looking for a channel on the radio. When I wiggle a little bit the connector from the docking station, it will play some music for a short time. Still it is not the same quality sound, it used to be. Also, some times the sound is too loud and when I touch ONE time the volume minus (-) button, you can hardly hear the music, it is too soft. Hope somebody can solve this problem.

They both use the same speakers, my personal opinion deems they are both the same. However the second SoundDock charges via USB pin, so it is future proof for future iPods.

The new SoundDock II charges your new iPod touch and is fully compatible all iPods and the iPhone 3G. Also the SoundDock Portable will do this.
Better news-> Call Bose. They can upgrade the 30-pin connector to charge via USB-only and function with the remote as well. $99. This will make your iPod touch 100% compatible and somewhat future-proof your SoundDock. If the SoundDock was purchased within 90 days (at full retail price), they will do the upgrade for a smaller fee or even free I think.. (new 1 year warranty given with repair/mod) btw- This is an Apple issue, not a Bose issue. All 3rd party iPod connection devices had to make this change at some point.

If it is brand new. It is under warranty. Go back to the store where it was purchased and tell them the problem. They should replace it with another
new one. Have them show you how to use it on
all of the functions on your Bose Docking Station.
Make sure you tell them about the ipod Touch and the iPhone.

Order Prod Number 041615 , Description: "279103-004 MOD ASSY CRADLE BLK SOUNDDOCK" from Bose spares. Costs £35. Undo the four philips screws in base, romove cover and replace whole cradle assembly. There is a circuit board attached to the main unit by a ribbon cable - you do not need to remove this cable you can instead can thread the circuit board through the old cradle. Then pull out the ribbon cable that connects the new assembly to the circuit board. Installation of new one n reverse. Protect from static by using wrist strap etc.

My remote worked perfectly until I changed the battery. The original battery was CL 2032 and I replaced it with DL 2032. After replacing the battery, only the volume control works. The off button will only fade the sound while the button is depressed. Release the button, and the volume returns to the original level and the unit remains On.
None of the other buttons work.
If you've found a solution, please post it here.
