Error Code "od" while trying to start machine

The machine will not start. When the start button is pushed the beeper beeps and error code "od" is displayed on the readout screen. Teh manual reads this is a safety feature and that the lid must be opened before another cycle is started.

    We have unloaded, tried to start with nothing in washer, loaded a full load and tried that also. Still no luck.

    Solution to the problem is that the left lock mechanism was faulty. Replaced it and all was fine.

    I have a neptune TL washer for the past 4 years and every time I try to start it I get the error code "od". I unloaded the machine and tryed it again with no joy. Can you h elp me with this problem.

    I too have the od code the repairman was here and said I need a left lid lock replaced and he can be back in 2 weeks with it. I have 3 kids 2 weeks is to long. Does anyone know if there is a way to disconnect/bypass this safety feature? Or is I got that part how I could put it in myself?

    Same exact problem manual says to open the door. Tried and left unplugged overnight. Thank you for the info will try it. Washer is less than two years old.

    I have the same issue. And frankly I am going crazy. I have husband and three kids and laundry is piling. I thank you for the tip. Were do I buy this part. And how soon can I get it. My husband has removed the left lock and fussed with it and it comes back to life. But, that is temporary fix. Hopefully This will fix the problem.

In my case turns out "od" meant Open Door - imagine. Anyway, opening and reclosing the door worked. Thank you.

I had a maytag repairman do it but I will do it my self from now on. It was really simple to do and it came with installation instructions in the box. Have had no problems since. The Maytag part number is: 25001048

Could od mean overload? Reduce or actually weigh load and re-try

    These machines hv instructions re load, a max and a min (half load switch). If you dont follow these instruc your machine's life would be in danger.

Problem solved .. thanks .. we had lost our manual and had the od code .. unloaded machince .. reloaded .. works great! Altho, will say I would never buy another neptune .. we have had more problems with this washer than any in the last 38 years!

When does it beep? When you say it runs ok, do you mean the
complete selected cycle? Have you turned off the signal?
Do you know how to enter diagnostics? The WM0642HW does not
have a error code history file. It can only display the current error.

Gw712 doesnt start just beeps
Lets see if an error code pulls up.

With the machine off, press and hold the Wash Temp Down button and then push the power button until the machine gives 2 short beeps and lights up. Now press the Spin Speed Up button three times so that the Hold and Slow LEDs are illuminated.

The eight wash progress LEDs will show the error code.

Hit the power button until there is NO display . Unplug and wait a minimum of 30 seconds , plug back in and within 30 seconds hit SIGNAL button then DELAY START button then SIGNAL button again then DELAY START button again. door should lock and display t01 It is now in test mode . There are 14 different test it can run through in this mode , but all we are trying to do is check for error codes now and maybe get you back to normal, So turn the knob one click clockwise and hit the START/PAUSE button and see if any error codes come up. To exit the diagnostic mode - hit signal button then delay start button then signal button then delay start button and you are out of service test mode and back to normal. Post any error codes.

Error code with a beeping-- reading 172 flashes
Call Kidde during business hours at the following number. I took the next paragraph off their website.
"The next time your carbon monoxide alarm has ERR on the display, push and hold the Peak Level button.You will see an E and an O followed by a number.Contact our hotline at 1-800-880-6788 and provide us the error code, along with the model number, assembly number and date of manufacture from the back of your unit.If your unit is under warranty, a replacement will be mailed to you."

Pushing Start Button only results in "Beep, beep, beep"
Need to check that the lid is shut properly and the door is locking. You don't mention an error code in the display. Make sure there isn't one showing.
