Question about LG 42CS560 42 Class LCD HDTV

1 Answer

LG 42CS560 42 Class LCD HDTV won't come out of standby mode.

My tv won't get out of standby mode. When it is plugged in, the red light is on so I know it is getting power. When I press the power button on the remote, or try turning it on from the tv itself, nothing happens. I just bought this TV a few weeks ago and have done nothing out of the ordinary with it.

SOURCE: LG 42in LCD Television - turning unit off

The amount of standyby power consumtion is minimal. The only way to turn it off completly is to disconnect the power from the TV. This will however increase your start up time when you want to use the TV.

If you are able I would suggest taking back off and "looking" at power board.

You want to see if any puffed up caps on that board(follow power cord to the board).

If you are not able to do that consider having a shop look at it before more damage can happen.

Here is what to look for if you get it open:

TV won't turn on

Before going OFF, the standby LED might blink. These blinks are fault indication. The number of blink should be counted. Count the number of blinks at one time, before the TV goes OFF. [eg: 4 blinks Power SOS P Board; 6 blinks Driver SOS 1 SU / SD / SC Boards
(SC energy recovery circuit)] and so on. you can get more details from this site named 'Electro-help'. You can reach it by searching the keyword "electronicshelponline" by internet.

My LG TV red light won't turn on. although the plug fuse and the remote OK

Try manually pressing the power/standby button on the tv (side or bottom) the red light should appear, most modern tv's will turn on simply by pressing the channel up or down on the tv itself.. But unfortunately in most cases, this seems to be an internal surge and needs a professional to inspect..

Power light is green than goes red

Hi beinhauert,

The symptoms you've mentioned indicated that the unit turned to standby mode. This is an indication that there's something wrong on the TV. To help us narrow down where the fault came from, please access the built in "Self diagnostic Screen". Follow the steps below.
In standby mode (red light is on), press the button on the remote control in sequence "Display", "5", "Volume (-)", "Power". Self diagnostic screen's displays its log of error. Please let me know the error code with corresponding numerical value "1" means error has been detected, "0" means no error.
