Question about Mitsubishi HS-U778 VHS VCR

1 Answer

E2 error Hi - I have a HS-851 VHS, and have submitted on this model as though it was the closest. I have an E2 error code flashing and was wondering what this is and if it is significant/fatal prob. I see another post with a flashing 2 light, which seemed to be tape ejection related. My partner had trouble removing a tape and finally got it out via repeated use of the eject button. Some force was required by her to retrieve the tape once it became partly available. It is a relatively old Nicam VHS but has been really great (I love the ability to skip adverts). Will probably buy a HDD recorder, but want to be able to play existing videos - so any help is appreciated.

Something might've been broken in the forced tape removal. VCR tape carriage (the cassette unit) assemblies are rather delicate, easily broken, in contrast to the units in early VCRs (from the '80s or early '90s). Use of force in tape removal... can break stuff, or perhaps get the gear timing fouled up. Take the top cover off, look for broken pieces of this assembly. If this assembly has gears on the right side, this obviously means it is gear driven. Timing is set by lining up marks on the gears, in most cases. Setting this might be tricky- service literature will tell you how to set this, and in what mode the marks line up.

Hi
E2 error code is a temperature sensor error code.

Remove the plastic black cover on the back and you will see the control board.
On the board you will see a wiring block with 4 thin wires going to it.
Test the 2 wires on the left and the 2 wires on the right with a multi meter. The reading in Kohms (kiloohms) should be the same.
If any are faulty then they will need to be replaced.
If the readings are the same, replace a faulty control board to be rid of the E2 error and your problem.

Dear Sir:
The error code E1or E2 coming from this reasons.
1) Adjust the speed sensor, see the diagram attached, clean, and tight the connector wires.
2) Test the main motor input voltages coming from the output from the main motor board.
3) The main motor or motor board can be faulty or need repair.

Getting E2 error flashing on vcr and can't rewind tape or anything.Don't have user manual to see what that error means.

E2 means: Loading motor locked in the unload direction. Usually(not always) happens with a going bad VCR tape on the rewind. Tape is becoming too difficult to rewind and/or VCR is getting tired. Eject tape. Discard tape as soon as practical, new tapes are cheap. To clear: Hold power on/off button for 8 seconds.

E2 error

Just had the same E2 come up on my HSU-445. The only thing we could figure out was to try a different tape than the one that was in there when the error came up. That seemed to do the trick. Not sure how long that will work. Good luck.
