Same Deal-Cricket beeping sound when plugged, Dead TV
I see from other requests that have not been answered that the model GE #46GW947 has the same problem as mine. This is something that needs to be addressed and ask why this problem has not been answered. I need to fix it myself or go to the repair shop with knowledge of what is the problem so I do not get ripped off. Please help me and others with this problem!
One day my TV was on and when I left the room it just went out, now there is a soft cricket beeping sound from the back of the set (big screen 36in) when plugged in. I have taken the back off but cannot locate exactly where the sound is coming from.
Please help with this as it seems I am not the only one asking about this problem.
Thank you in advance for your help,
Ksessums

Re:
The chirping sound you hear is normally the regulator circit trying to start up. It needs a signal returning from the high voltage transformer to turn it on.
The reason the regulator cicuit is not working varies:
The horizontal output is shorted, usually caused by a bad transformer in this model.
The focus block goes out in this model quite a bit.
The secondary of the power supply may have a missing voltage.
I have found that there is no horizontal pulse coming from the drive circuits.
Sometimes the regulator circuit itself has an issue.
Either way, there are so many problems that can cause the regulator to chirp, diagnostics may be tricky.

Ur convergence is dead. The 2 STK convegence ICS are dead.Must know how to solders?Replaced the 2 STK convergence ICS will solved this problems.Tries Websites Tv repair World.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a convergence kit to repair it ur self. The shop will cost U $300 for parts and labors.
this is a common problem in the projection tv faced by many users.that the sound goes out and comes properly when using dvd player on it.but its the problem of weak sound ic on the main board of the tv that has to be replaced its also called the audio ic.
as the sound only comes because the dvd itself has its sound ic in the device so the sound comes from that ic which you get.
you have a problem in the deflection board causing the convergence menu to drop out, and the audio out put is causing your problems with audio. You can get parts at this link. Just let them know your model number and they will get back to you quickly. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
Sounds like something wrong in the tuner circuit
How about performing a by-pass test? Use the
A/V 1 or 2 inputs on the bottom rear of tv to
hook-up signal.Use dvd or source box. When the set is cold, turn on and check. If the pix & sound are good, then the tv has a tuner problem.
If you can live with two inputs,no repairs need
to be done.Caution:observe funky,side-ways
hook-up on A/V 2 !!!
