I have not used this MP3 player for about 3 months, and then I tried using it, and it would not turn on. At first, when i turned it on, it flashed the screen to blue, showed the MuVo TX FM screen and then shut off. Also, when I plugged it into a computer it would give me the I/O error. So then today, I tried downloading the programs from some websites that said would repair these problems, and now it doesnt even flash the blue screen anymore... or detect it on the computer. Whats going on? I really want to use this MP3 player, I cant afford other music devices at this point. How can I fix this? It hasn't been damaged, and I used a brand new batery.
I had the same sudden power-off on a MuVo TX that I have had for 2 years now. I also had problems upgrading it, I got the latest firmware updater tool from here: http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=213&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP®ion=3&Product_Name=MuVo+TX&Product_ID=9672&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033&OS=10&drivertype=0&x=31&y=7 ...but the first attempt to upgrade left me with a dead player. Grrr. However, I managed to recover it.. I rebooted my laptop.. and used 7zip to unpack the creative upgrade tool to a folder. I then plugged in the MuVo (while holding the power button? can't remember) and got the windoze New Hardware wizard. Selected 'Manual install' then selected 'from a disk/folder', browsed to where I had unpacked the driver, hit next and allowed the wizard plenty of time to work it all out. That seemed to get the player detected as an empty disk device again. Then I was able to run the installer (double clicked on the downloaded .exe) and select a full upgrade, and that worked. (when I was doing this, the tool claimed my player had firmware version 0.00 installed on it !?! weird.). So it may be possible to recover even a seemingly dead player. I have not verified that the power-off issue is fully resolved, I only did this 10 minutes ago and it´s an intermittent problem. But so far, it seems to work. Hope this gives some clues. Best of luck, EasyTarget.
