the lcds are mounted on frames inside a seaaled optical box They are glued in a position for perfect focus and convergance against a prism even slight force will be likely to alter the focus/convergance and connection is by delicate ribbon cable.you will not be able to clean the inner side, the lcds are too close to the prism. if the problem is staining of pure white areas, dirty lcds will not be the problem, I've tried it! The effect was cured with a new optical box.

WDE may or may not have parts for our dead monitors. They gave me the following phone number: (562) 236-9800. I have no idea if they can look up part numbers for us if we can't locate them somehow ourselves. I don't see a service manual anywhere...
To the guy who wants to get the front bezel off: it just snaps off once you unscrew the 3 screws from the bottom on the back. I succeeded in getting all of the plastic case off, but then I was looking at potentially destroying the foil shields before getting it further apart.
I would suggest Tritronics for the service manual and the replacement parts.
Unless you have a service manual, it takes a lot of disassembly by careful observation (or trial and error) to determine how that delicate LCD panel is put together!
Of course I'd want to be sure that the problem is not in the inverter instead since that's a much more common cause of backlight trouble.
Unless you happen to know it's one or more CCFLs, then of course you'd want to replace them all since they have the same aging.
