Question about Akai PT5492S 54" Rear Projection Television

NO Picture in Color except for PIP

My Boss gave me a 54"akai rear perjection T.V. it worked great at his house but when i got it home no picture. The sound works great. The picture worked in Black & White only with DVD player. the PIP works fine in color only no large picture in color with cable or DVD. Any suggestions!! thank you. AKAI PT54925

My Rca 52 inch has lost color But If I set the feature

PIP means the set uses either two tuners or a dual tuner--could be a issue with the tuner. If it has a swap feature in the PIP use it to see if color when tuner is switched from main to PIP tuner.

A possible way around the issue is to look to see if rear audio/video inputs have color---you could route signal from a box etc to one of those and BYPASS the problem if rear inputs do not have this problem(not likely they will).

I am getting the pip but not regular picture. Sound no picture.

It could be as simple as your remote going bad try useing the buttons on the TV to make your TV go from PIP to regular screen. If this solves it then its your remote. If not you could have a defective IC chip or switching device such as a transistor

I just had that problem. Check the terminal board that is on the left if you open the back of the TV. There is a thing in there with the number aa93-something. If you check under that board there should be some solders that have come loose. I just fixed this problem last night!!

yes maybe i have one that i have barley ever use and after eight years it now have only a green and blue picture and i can't find anyone to fix this set because i live in Tyler, Texas.
