Question about Husqvarna Partner Gas Powered Cut Off Saw K960 16"

1 Answer

I have a husqvarna partner K960 concrete saw that the skirt of the piston on the exhaust side has shattered, there is no scoring in the bore, the actually sides of the piston above the damage has no scoring, and the journal and crank bearings have next to no play at all. i can only think of 2 causes which are lack of lubrication or over revving. Any ideas as to why this happened?

If the piston is working in the cylinder properly, that part of the piston shouldn't be making contact with the cylinder wall so lubrication shouldn't contribute to its demise unless it was bad enough to lead to enough heat buildup to cause the failure. It is most likely the metal was weak in a way or spot that the force of the piston going up and down was enough for the metal to finally fail. Of course the faster the motor is turning the higher those forces are so over reving the motor could certainly lead to this type of failure.

Hi I have a K960 saw which is a good starter and runs perfect for 5mins after which time it will only tick over - when I try to accelerate it by opening the throttle it then spits petrol back from the carb...

First thing would be to remove the muffler and make sure it isn't plugged with carbon. At that same time you can visually inspect the piston and cylinder. If there is any scoring on either then both will need to be replaced. There are other possibilities too like carb issues or bad crank seals but I always start with the exhaust. You could also take a compression reading if you have a tester. Make sure any compression release (if so equipped) is NOT pushed in. Have the throttle wide open but NO choke and pull 3 to 5 times or until the gauge quits rising. You should see at least 90 psi. If it is around 60 or less then most likely the piston and cylinder are scored or at least the rings are shot.

Husqvarna partner 750 concrete saw wont start

You need to make sure it is mechanically sound, has the piston picked up on the exhaust side? does it have enough compression? is there signe of concrete dust on the inside of the air filter and filter houseing?there are many after market carb gasket sets, some have a small hole missing from the diaphram and gasket on the metering side, this activates the compensator, this needs to be there as the metering cover has no breather hole in it.

Husqvarna 450 e-series 18" Chain Saw will not

Is this machine mechanically sound, remove the muffler and take a look at the piston through the open exhaust port, any signs of scuffinf or damage to the piston skirt and the saw will have to come apart for further investigation.

i know you would like a simple solution. these saws are not simple. check gas for water, clean air filter, check exhaust. take carb off and clean all jets. spark, gas in, exhaust out. fuel line clear? i have seen these **** up so much dust it plugged the breather. hope this helped.

My partner 700 cut off saw's carburetor keeps loading up with gas.

you may have a hole in the fuel pump diaphragm,in the carb. Which will let gas into the crankcase through the pulse line
