I rent movies from the local movie store and some will play and some will not.. The ones that will NOT play give me the error..."this movie cannot be formatted for this region". Is the problem with my DVD player and I can I fix it or is it with the movie itself..Please help if anyone can it is happening everytime I rent now...THANK YOU!!!! Sandi
Somebody said they had the same problem, and suggested the following: On the DVD unit, press STOP and POWER buttons at the same time, and then IMMEDIATELY (1 second or less) press
the PREV button. He said, for him it popped up with WM for the Market and 1 for the Region automatically. The codr WM is 00 if you need it. That was all he had to do, and now it's working. Hope that helps anybody else who comes along with the same problem.

Try playing a dvd you own that has no visible scratches. If it plays fine then your rental dvd may be bad. If let the movie store know they should give a free rental. I would use a cleaning dvd to clean your player just in case.
I found out this tv/dvd will not play certain movies that are rented from netflix is that their dvd have a restricted thing, and this tv will not read the movies that are on certain disks. It plays movies good that I rented here in town. So theres nothing really wrong with the player itself. I did some reading and this is what I assummed.
Sounds like the unit is bad, or set to the wrong Regional Code. Its not easy to set the regional code and it varies by model. You are better off buying a new DVD player given they can be found for under $30.
I bought another DVD player. I found out that all DVD's don't play on all
DVD brands of players. They are cheap enough these days so I decided
it wasn't worth a repair bill. The Sanyo DWM-400 plays many of my
store bought DVD's and not others. I never tried a home made DVD in
it so I don't know how it responds.
I have a Sanyo Dvd/vhs player and I recentlty went to dish network instead of cable and I do not know how to get the player to work now so I can watch movies that I have rented. Can you tell me how to use the remote to watch movies.
