JVC DR-MV80B display says hello then shuts itself off.

I also tried to open the DVD tray and the hello appears and I hear the dvd player like it wants to open but wont then unit powers down. I opened unit and checked for mechanical binding nothing. I can manually open tray just fine and when I press the open/close the tray closes normally but it still has same problem opening. This unit is only a couple years old. Is JVC brand this poorly made?

SOURCE: JVC Model DR-MV99 tray door

This problem was driving me crazy, until I found a solution.
This is what you need to do.
When the tray is open grab the flap door that goes up when the dvd goes in. Hold it down as you the DVD tray goes in. (Its spring loaded) This allows you to have direct access to the front of the tray even when the DVD goes all the way in. Hold the tray in with your finger by pushing in firmly on the far right corner of the DVD tray. The DVD tray will try and come out, continue to hold it in while pressing the eject button on the remote. If you are firmly pressing in on the right corner of the tray it should only take a few times of pressing eject when you see the Disk symbol on the screen and you will here the DVD start loading. When you know that it is starting to load release the front door flap. You can then use the DVD player as normal.
Unfortuntely you will need to do this each time a DVD is loaded.

SOURCE: jvc dvd player won't open

when you hit the eject button try tapping the top above the disk drive. it may be somewhat stuck. if that doesnt fix it you might have a broken belt or a belt may have come off in it. the belt controls the movement of the drive in and out

I have a JVC VCR/DVD-recorder, model DR-MV7S. It developed a problem... when you placed a DVD on the tray & pressed the "eject/open" button to take the DVD into the recorder, the tray...

This can be due to a faulty LOADING drive settings, It can be due to a misalignment of the loading section and so the load does not reset to the PARK CONDITION of the MODE.
It can be a aulty gear, belt or jamming in the drive.
You need to open the player, remove the mechanism and manually check the forward and loading motion which can confirm. If the belt or the drive is jammed this can be checked and replaced or reset.
Check the mode switch settings of the forward loading.

I received a JVC DR-MV80B DVD/VCR combo and the DVD's play fine, but on the VCR side, the video doesn't play - only hear audio. Is this a product issue, or something that can be repaired without costing...

Try cleaning the video heads - assuming you got a 'snow' image with audio, see if it helps. Otherwise the VCR might require a head replacement/mechanical realignment, which could be expensive/uneconomical.

What's the difference between the DR-MV80B and DR-MV150?

The biggest difference that I see is that the MV80B does not have a tuner and the MV150B has an ATSC tuner (HD digital signal).

I hope this helps.

I recorded from tv to dvd and cannot play back video

upload it to your computer, and check the file type, and possibly convert it to the correct file type and burn it to a DVD.

My dvd player wont work it will just say hello when i turn it on but then it will turn off by itself

I have the same problem. I installed this unit and used it for a total of one day before it complely failed. When you tun it on, the display says hello, nothing is shown on the TV, and it turns itself off within 30 seconds. Solution, I am returning this JVC unit and never purchasing another JVC product again. Complete failure after one days use, pitiful!

Why my dr-mv100b dvd door stays open?

Try to look inside from the tray, is the small belt in place or does the gear spin freely and the tray does not move? Or is the issue with just the door not closing the tray is inside?
