New ps2 game won't play on older ps2 game console. Help!?

Brand new game (Dynasty Warriors 6) won't play on older ps2 game console. Game console about 6 years old, in good shape. All other new games are working fine, all older games working fine, plays ps1 and ps2 without a problem. Exchanged with replacement game, still won't play. Says "Disk error". Any ideas on how to fix? Or am I just stuck not being able to play this one game?

    do not read any dvd cd even dont have the menu to start

You're stuck not being able to play, you need to get the slim PS2's because they reconverted the discs for a new disc encoding.

PS 2 new and old games keep freezing
It needs a new laser... it's a pretty common issue with older PS2s. The lasers simply eventually wear out after time. You can get a new laser for the older PS2s at the following website:

Make sure its not a ps3 game as ps3 games dont work on the ps2 console and also make sure there are no scatches on the disc.
