Hi. I've had my ip1600 for over a year now, at first it was running brilliantly... at first!
Now, whenever I turn on the printer and try to print nothing happens, not even from service or test print. When trying to print from Windows I get Paper Jam Errors all the time.
I have checked, double checked and even triple checked the printer, but can find no sign of paper jamming or any other jam anywhere.
Has my printer just given up and joined the choir invisible, or am I missing something obvious. Please help!!!

Re: Paper Jam Error
Hello there
You may not see a paper jam.
This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there. And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it. Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Error 6000
An error occurred in the LF encoder signal.
Can be the result of a deep paper jam with pins, paper or other miscellaneous objects stuck in there.
This is known issue with Canon printers. Try the steps below.
Instructions
1
Remove all of the paper from the paper tray and slide the paper guides all the way to the side. Examine the paper for any crumpled or torn pieces, then reload the tray. Make sure the guides fit snugly against the sides of the paper. If the guides are too loose, the paper can feed into the iP1600 skewed and cause a paper jam. If the guides are too tight it can cause the printer to grab more than one piece of paper.
2
Open the front of the printer and wait for the print cartridges to move to the center. Do not move the cartridges by hand--this could damage the printer and void your warranty.
3
Pull the cartridges slightly toward you and lift them free of the printer. Set the cartridges aside.
4
Wipe the interior of the printer with a soft cloth to remove any ink residue and paper dust. The Pixma iP1600 has a tendency to accumulate a lot of paper dust, especially during periods of heavy use. Cleaning the printer periodically is the best way to avoid problems.
5
Dip a cotton swab in warm water and carefully clean the bottom of each print cartridge. The print cartridges in the iP1600 printer also tend to accumulate paper dust. In addition the print nozzles can become clogged with ink residue, resulting in poor print quality and shortening the life of the cartridges. Continue wiping the cartridges until all ink residue and paper dust have been removed.
Typically printers can be forced offline if there is a paper jam that has not been cleared, a problem with the ink cartridges (Ink Jet Printers), out of paper an uncleared error condition.
You might try turning the printer off, disconnecting the printer to PC cable and then turning the printer back on.
Run some of the stand-alone tests if there are any on board the printer. The turn the printer off and reconnect the cable. Turn the printer back on again and let me know what happens.

Hi If it keep saying paper jam Then it maybe just that you may not see any paper in it but it only takes a very small bit of paper that stopping it or I would take a closer look inside, you may have had a paper jam before and it has left a small nit inside. All Best: Pineworks
Unplug printer and open the front. Try taking out the cartridges and re-installing them. There could be a bit of paper stuck int here and then plug back in and run a test page
