1. Lets get back: i hope the tv was doing fine before to start digging into it ( was it?) Was the tv complete tested before to make sure the buttons were working all and the audio was there. I mean each part of your tv has different solutions:

No having GUI you mean OSD (i gess) (on screen display) channels appearing when you push that button or audio level line or menu letters (several buttons have to be touch to make sure of there is not OSD.

if the tv has not white noise the screens are without convergence. you are digging in a set with maybe 5 problems the three you told me plus the other posibilities im gessing and i hope you don't have. So slow down with the repair and try step by step. bye now.
