My TI-84 Plus Silver edition's keyboard does not seem to be working. Only occasionally will what I am pressing show up on the screen. If I press the buttons enough, it will show up and it is still functional once the input is recognized. I cannot turn it off. When I remove and return the batteries the opening screen tells me that the RAM has been cleared. HELP!

Thats because the OS is corrupt. Follow the manual and reload the OS, try the 2.43 OS

Well, if screen shows the RAM CLEARED message, that means your calculator is working. Just press the [CLEAR] key, message will be erased and you are ready to crunch numbers.

The Ram cleared message is normal after you change batteries. When you see this message you press the CLEAR button to erase it. You do not press the ON button again because the calculator is already ON. If you want to turn calculator OFF you press [2nd][ON] (OFF).
On certain calculators, pressing the ON button when calculator is already ON is interpreted as INTERRUPT the current command.

That actually is a result of water damage. You probably need to replace it, or see about getting it taken apart and dried if the water damage was recent. DO NOT take it apart yourself. Go somewhere and ask if that is possible.

what helped for me is leaving it w/h any battery's (no backup battery either) for a few days. Now miraculously it works!
