1 Answer

We have a Samsung RS265TDWP side by side refrigerator. After multiple power outages last night in storms, I discovered this morning the temp on the fridge is 53. I have tried unplugging to reset. Did not work. temp is set on 36, but not cooling down.

Being a newer fridge I would look at the control board being faulty. They do not Handel porters surges very well and you may have blown a relay or resistor on the board. I would install a surge protector on anything you own with electronics in the future.

SOURCE: Samsung RS2556 - Refrigerator side is not cooling - Freezer is fine

Ok, what I found out is that there are codes built into the front panel. If you hold the top left and right buttons for 5 seconds, the fridge will reset. If there are no issues, the panel goes blank. If there is a dash in the right side of the panel, there is an issue with the fridge side. In the left, freezer side. The dash indicates a defrost problem. Only a couple of things can cause this. 1. Sensor 2. Heater 3. Fan, 4. control board.

SOURCE: Samsung Fridge can't get temp down

it is probably the door switch. I just pulled the switch from a rb2055 and disassembled the switch. one of the contacts is broken.
If you unplug the fridge and plug it back in, the light should work. push in on the switch button with the door open. If the light does not go out, switch is bad.
pry the switch gently out with screwdriver, unplug it and get a replacement.
If you are watching this I can also probably tell you how to jerry-rig it to run while waiting for replacement swicth.

SOURCE: Power outage caused by fridge to quit

OUCH! , the partial digit display is an error code that has a meaning and they are never good , these units I have seen/repaired many times but I do not have the code book to determine it.
Try holding down the power freeze and power cool at the same time until you get something. If the unit is ok it will reset and hopefully be fine , if you still get a code these units have longer warranty's and could be repaired with no charge.

The OF OF display is the OFF setting, used for display purposes, so the light and controls light, but the refrigerator does not run while it is on display at a dealer. Try pushing in and holding the top two buttons on the left side of the display for about 5 seconds at the same time to get it out of the display mode. You should be able to set temps then.

Testimonial: "Thank you MNTECH, that seems to have worked. (I have it on power freeze and power cool now to quickly return to the proper temps) Background: We had family & friends over using it for ice & cold water and one person unfamiliar with the feature was tapping the buttons. She must have hit the sequence to send it into "display" mode as you correctly surmised. Will check the frig in 20min to see if it is getting cold again. But I think that was it. (The display does now read -4F and 34F which are the temps I typically have it set at)"

Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling after storm

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

Our power went out due to the snow storm, and the display panel shows 88 on each side...how do I reset this...will this cause the fridge temp to go up?

From http://www.samsung.com/us/support/supportMain.do

Your refrigerator is equipped with an onboard diagnostic system. If the diagnostic system detects a fault, it will display a specific line segment on you refrigerators LED display. If your refrigerator is displaying an error code, please note the error code, and reset the refrigerator by unplugging the refrigerator for 30 seconds. When the refrigerator is plugged in, it performs a self diagnostic check of the various sensors and functions. If the error code reappears your refrigerator will require service. Please click the "Create Online Service Request" button below this article to initiate the service process. After a power outage the display panel may start blinking "88 88." If you unplug the unit for 30 seconds then plug it back in the display will return to normal operation after several hours. The power outage/surge can cause a communication error between the circuit boards in the unit. It can take several hours for these boards to stabilize.

If the display does not reset, go to the Samsung Support link above, enter your model number, and follow the prompts to request a service ticket.

Good luck, and if this helps, please rate my answer!

We have a Samsung side by side RS2534WW, just had a brief power outage during a storm, now 1 light on the panel blinks, nothing else. Lights are on inside the fridge, but won't deliver ice or do anything....

I simply press and hold the top left and top right buttons (which are for the temp in each section) for about 5 seconds to reset. It's fine until the next power failure...and I don't want that when I'm on vacation.........

This sounds to me like a busted compressor, nothing more you can do to it. You must call a repairman to test it and replace it, a very delicate procedure that requires specialized equipment.

Ref has no power

First thing to do is to make sure that the plug is hot that your refrigerator is plugged into. Most of the time it's a gfi and it may need to be reset. if youi don't see it there sometimes the electricians will pu it in the garage and or the bathroom but it is still on the same circuit. Hope that htis helps you out.

The sensor on that unit is probably near the door. This happens a lot on Walk in coolers/freezers also. As long as the temp goes back down in a few minutes, the unit is ok.
