Sony DCR-PC100 does not eject (well not really!)

This is weird:
I had a DCR-PC100 with a jammed tape inside (and C31:30 error). When trying to eject the mechanis would do some noise, ejecting the tape half way then taking it back. all the normal trick/reset/unpower did not work.
I got hold of service manual, opened the camera, _removed_ the mechanism put it on a test bench and operated the eject motor with a 4.5 V power supply. which immediately resulted in a "normal"  ejection. The tape was out of the cassette but could be manually rewound in so all OK up to here.
I tried few times using the 4.5 V to verify I could operate the mechanism "standalone" both loading and unloading so the mechanism works fine outside. but  when the mechansim is put back in the camera, any attempt to operate the button to open the tape compartment results in a bit of noise, wirling noise but no movement of the tape compartment (not even half way).
Any suggestion before I dismantle it once again ?
Thanks

Don't think this is a complete solution, but it might help. Try checking out the buttons on the camera. I've got one of those same cameras but my problem is the ribbon cable in the cassette carrier broke and I'm on the hunt for a new one, and a service manual. By the way, how about emailing a copy of the service manual to me at [email protected]. Thanks. I might be able to help further with a copy of that.

The camera's firmware has sensed a jam or too slow rotation in the cassette's take-up roller. Really difficult to overcome. The tape may already be snarled round a roller, but is certainly in the "loaded" tape path. I've had this and had to disassemble the whole tape transport mechanism - which is really difficult - after trying unsuccessfully to drive the unload motor from an external 6v power supply. Sometimes a really hard sideways bang on the camera can free up the roller enough to let it rotate a bit, satisfy the motion sensor and allow an eject.

I have a Sony DCR-TRV250 Digital Handycam Camcorder. Currently a tape is stuck in it and the camcorder won't eject it. The tape unit comes out but won't open.

I got the tape to eject by removing the battery from the camcorder, putting it back on so that the tape would go back inside the camera. Then I had the tape eject again. Several times the tape would not be ejected but I repeated my steps until the camera released the tape.

Cannot find way to eject tapecassette

Check eject lever near battery, press it downward to open tape compartment, take out old tape and put new tape, close tape door and let it go inside by itself. Close tape compartment.

Below image will help you to locate eject button/ lever in DCR-HC18E camcorder.
Thanks.

Nothing happens when I turn on the camera - message C:31:23

This error usually comes when there is some mechanical fault instead of the electronic one. Maybe the gears are jammed. Try it at your own risk:
I found this on another discussion forum. Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times. Surprisingly it worked for me..
