Filter gurgles whenever pump is restarted
SOURCE: my pool sand filter pump isnt filtering the water
could possbly be a bad gasket on the vari-flow valve. When is the last time you backwashed?

SOURCE: How to change sand in Hayward S-200 Sand filter
hayward S-180 filter takes 150lbs, S-210 takes 200lbs not familur with the S-200. To change sand you have to remove the vari flow valve on top. You can either unplumb the filter and roll it over on its side and try washing the sand out or try scooping it out upright. Whatever you do dont damage the laterals on the bottom of the filter. When refilling with sand you want to make sure all the laterals are undamaged and in the down position. I always fill the filter half full of water to keep the sand from damaging the laterals while re-filling the filter with sand. Make sure you use pool filter sand and not play sand!

SOURCE: replaced sand now filter isnt working
if u used play sand, or any other type of sand thats NOT pool filter sand, that could be the problem. also if there is too much sand or too little sand that could also cause this.

SOURCE: My new Hayward Pool Sand Filter won't backwash.
Have you ever had the top valve apart? If so, the postion of the inside diverter was not replaced correctly. Make sure the solid portion of the diverter lines up with the 'Closed" port on the valve. Once this is lined up, everything else will line back up into the correct position.

SOURCE: I can not get vacuum pressure on my Hayward Sand
The filter is most likely not the issue at all.
When you lose vacuum pressure and see bubbles the problem is usually air getting into the line killing the prime. The most common place that air gets into the line is from the strainer cover on the pump. The clear lid on the front of the pump has an o-ring that after 3 years is probably due for replacement.
With a bad o-ring it's easier for the pump to draw air through the lid then water through 20+ feet of vac hose. Replace the o-ring, make sure it is lubed well with a non petrol based grease.
The only other issue that may cause this is a cracked or seriously warped strainer lid, which should be easy to recognize once it is removed to replace the o-ring.
Once this is done you should be fine.
