Daewoo #DP-42SM. Sound works, but I get a frozen image on the display that could best be described as "Multi-colored Burlap". Thin 1/8" horizontal and vertical colored stripes frozen on the entire screen. Unit manufactured 12-03. Could this be as easy to fix as a board replacement? Firmware upgrade? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have not repaired a plasma TV. As I understand, the plasma TV has a picture tube similar to those in older TVs. I have read about them, and have an authorization for two other TV manufacturers. The bulletins I have read described trouble shooting problems. Your TV may be exhibiting a blue or red hazing problem. This is most certainly describing a bad plasma screen. This problem is a common occurrence. Once again I have read many trouble shooting tips regarding this problem. Under warranty we are asked to replace the screens. If this TV is not under warranty, the cost will exceed the price of a new TV. Sorry, about your TV. You may opt for a second opinion, and please do so. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!
I have the Daewoo Plasma Digital Dream model dp-42sm and it had power but no picture and my dads tv expert friend looked at it said the ysus board was out. I got the part on ebay for 125 dollars with 12 dollar shipping and put it in myself very simple and the problem is fixed. Is this the same issue your having?
Sounds like your panel might be going out or a faulty video card. This is the first time I have heard of a solid pink screen on a plasma. Usually this happens on LCDs, though they sometimes go white and stay white, which does signal a bad panel. tv needs repair
Just answered this on a different one. I have the Daewoo Plasma Digital Dream model dp-42sm, My dads tv expert friend looked at it and told us the ysus board was out. I got on ebay and bought the item from a store for 125 dollars used tested good with 12 dollar shipping, I put the part in myself it was very simple just take your time dont try and rush you have to take the actual bar the stand hooks onto off and the 2 boards going into the ysus board. It fixed the problem and is still in working order im using it now as the computer monitor.
