Recently the touch pad scroll bar stopped working. I've probably disabled this feature without realizing it. I've tried searching the documentation, but can't get it fixed. Any help will be much appreciated. A second minor problem has to do with the MS Office toolbar shortcut. Again, until recently, it remined pinned to the top of my desktop which is very convenient for switching between programs. Now, however, when I pin the shortcut to the desktop, it only remains until I turn the computer off. I then must re do the shortcut the next time I start the computer. How can I make it stay on the desktop? Thanks for your help.
Firstly the touch pad, right click on my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look down the hardware list for mice and other pionting devices and click on the '+' sign, there you should see your touchpad. Rght click on it then click uninstall, restart your notebook and the driver will re install the touchpad at default settings. Secondly shortcut problem, click start>run, then type 'msconfig' and press enter. In the next window click the startup tab and look for anything Office tool bar related and ensure it is ticked. Click ok then a box will ask you to restart, do s,o then another box will pop up after your desktop has loaded saying you have made changes, just tick 'Dont show this again'.

The touchpad should be listed somewhere, there may be an 'Other Devices' in the list with an exclamation mark, and theres no driver listed, download this programme to run support on your pc

Thanks for the quick reply. The fix you suggested for the MS Office toolbar shortcut took care of the problem.
The proposed solution for the more significant issue, the touchpad scroll bar problem, didn't work for some reason. When I opened the Mice and Other Pointing Devices item in Device Manager, the touchpad scroll bar was not shown. Only the mouse was there. I've been trying to find the touchpad in the System folder, etc., but have had no luck so far. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
