Hinge receivers for u1661

We have replaced the door hinges but the door still doesn't close properly. We have been told we need to replace the door hinge receivers, is this easy to do ourselves?

Having replaced the door hinges and then the door falling off I can confirm that that the receivers can be the problem. On dismantling (pretty easy if you follow the instructions above) I found that the receivers had "split open" allowing the hinge to slip past their stop and thus the door was dropping. There was evidence of this on both sides. Rather than waiting a few days and spending even more money I drilled a hole through both sides of the receiver and fitted a M6 bolt and nut to pull both sides together so that they cannot open out. Refitted and perfect.

I had this EXACT same problem and the hinge receivers WERE THE PROBLEM!

Easy fix. All you need is a Phillips head screw driver (cross head that is) and about 30 minutes.

1. First off remove the oven door.
2. pull out over so that you can easily access the rear
3. Disconnect oven from the electricity (make sure the mains power is OFF before you do this)
4. Remove the back panel by unscrewing all the screws
5. turn oven over onto its side and remove the bottom panel (more screws)
6. You can now get to the receiver - its held inplace by 1 screw just inside the oven door above the receiver (and maybe another 1 on the side, but i cant remember).
7. Undo screw(s),slide out receiver, replace and put back together in the reverse order.

Honestly, it is very easy (I did it with no help, idea and 1 have 10 sausages for fingers).

I agree, had the same problem only it took me much longer to change the retainers due to the amount of dust & grease found when removing the back cover. Couldn't tell difference between old & new retainers, but the new ones did the job.

Replacing the door hinges is the only solution to this problem.

SOURCE: neff oven door (U1661)

The door is v heavy and the hinges being right at the bottom take a lot of strain, especially when the door is in 'half open' position. Once the springs start to wear the hinges are no longer strong enough to hold the top of the door firmly closed. Our U1661 is 8 years old and we've had the hinges replaced twice under extended warranty. The second time the hinges they supplied don't hold the door in this position and it will just drop straight down if you don't support it while you open it.

SOURCE: door does not close tightly

Yep, sounds like the hinges/springs have been overloaded.
Dont know if it's a Neff problem in particular, but I had a Neff oven with exactly the same problem - it was already installed when I bought my house.
Spoke to Neff who advised this ocours if heavy things like a roasting tray with a heavy bird / joint in it is rested on the door whilst it's open.
Only cure is new spring/hinge units which are not cheap !

Testimonial: "thanks for that I did suspect it was the hinges"

SOURCE: The door of the main oven does not close properly

If ther is notjhing obstructing the door from closing poroperly, then it sounds to me like the hinges are the cause of the problem again.
Make sure there is nothing trapped at the bottrom of the door, and that the hinge/s are not loose.
If it is leaving a small gap at the top of the door, then I think your only option is to replace the hinges again, as there is no adjustment possible of the hinges.
Hope this assists you with your problem

How to turn off the oven light when door is closed. My stove is 15 years old

  1. Check all the screws behind the oven door gasket - in place and tight.
  2. Check that the door gasket is installed correctly and with all clips locked into place.
  3. Check the center hinge receiver, all screws are in place for the front chassis support
  4. Check the underside of the range below the center hinge receiver and make sure all 4 screws are tight and in place.
  5. Check that the door hinges are installed correctly & both mounting screws are secure.
  6. Check that the hinge retainers are closed and not blocked by the hinge cover.
  7. Check the top of door liner with a straight edge - make sure the liner is not bowed more than the width of a dime.
  8. Loosen the door panel top screws to a "relaxed" state. Open and close the door and retighten screws.
  9. Check the light/latch switch assembly - if out of position or stuck in incorrect position.
  10. If everything checks out, and oven light still stays on, replace hinges.

My JenAir oven door doesn't close fully

most likely you have bad door hinges if the door doesn't close correctly,i don't know if you know this but alot of parts are no loner available for this model,it must be old,the only thing you can get for the door is the hinges and that's it,you'll need the rest of the model number to get the right hinges you're missing the last two letters, you can go here put your model number in to look up parts.
https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/JMW8527CAB/1266/0125300.html
go to door and look at part 16 the hinge, hope this helps you out, when you open the door,if it sags down lower to the ground the hinges are bad, when open it should be at a 90 degree angle

I have had both door hinges replaced on the main oven of my Neff but the door still does not close properly. What is the next step?

I would have gone straight through Neff. If it can't be fixed, your'e supposed to get a new oven out of the deal.

Oven door has dropped & won't close properly

You may need new hinges or the door is possibly out of the hinge socket. Try removing door and putting it back in place. These instructions should be in your users manual.

Oven door not closing properly

If it is a drop down door with hinges on the bootom of the oven door, then it is likely to be weak door hinge springs, the usual solution is to replace both hinges.
If it is a swing open door, then the problem is related to a worn or broken door catch, or worn striker pin.
