Philips MCM298/37 Won't play CD - display says to check cd decoder board

When I select CD from the source menu, the display screen states "Check CD Decoder Board". Is there anything I can do, or do I trash the system?

Cd player works and volume control all other buttons won't

I have seen broken board inside. Have you ever pushed the front panel? If so, the board behind the control is cracked. If you are a tech, open and solder. If not, take it to a service center

I've got VW Passat b6 2006. Rosen-VW0710-H11 is installed in it. When I try to play DVD (no matter audio or video) system displays message: "Password Fail". What can be the reason of this...

I would recommend resetting the Rosen unit. This is done by entering the "Menu" and pressing "Settings". From this screen, you select "Keypad" in the top right corner of the screen and then enter "7-5-2-3" and press "Enter". This should erase any code for Parental Control (levels 0 - 8). Also, the Rosen product states to only use "Store bought media" for CD's and DVD's meaning that it won't play all 'burned' discs. Hope this helps.- Elliot

My Pioneer PDR 555-RW keeps reading Mon1 or Moni when I try to record my CD from my mixing board. I need to send this wedding music, and it is trapped in my board. HELP!

That's just a MONITOR indication. It means you can SEE the audio from the selected input on the record level meters for adjustment or other reasons. It won't prevent you from recording. Set your levels then hit RECORD, let it set itself up and calibrate to the disc, start your source and hit Play or Pause to start recording to the disc.

I have connected my phillips cdr785 recorder the proper way to record from an external source and I get the message "start source" on the cdr side when trying to record. And it never starts...

If you're recording an analog source the recorder won't automatically start. You have to start it in sync with the playback.

If you're trying a synchronized digital recording...

Page 28 of the manual says

Start playback on the selected source.

The CD recorder starts to record simultaneously and recording in progress is shown. The remaining recording time left of the CDR(W) is displayed.

Note: If you start playback on the selected source within a track, recording starts at the beginning of the next track or after 2.7 seconds of silence in analogue recordings.

Used the cd that came with the monitor. Now size, pixels, etc. are wrong, so much so that it cannot be used. How do go back to pre-cd-use? Thank you AOC 2036S Serial # Q81A8HA267758 LCD 20 inch...

If You really can't read anything on the screen this wont help. If you can make out a bit, then right click on a vacant area of your screen, then select "properties". On the Display Properties Menu, select "Settings", then select "Advanced". This will bring up a menu that shows your Monitor and Display Driver info. Select "Display", then select "Properties", then select "Driver", then select "Roll Back Driver". This will restore the old driver for the Display. If this doesn't help, go through the same menus again, and on the "Monitor and Display" menu select "Adapter" instead of "Monitor", and roll back that driver.

Best of Luck

Pioneer CD/Minidisc Player FH-P9000MD Problem

The remote control missing shouldn't be a factor - Pioneers will usually select the same sources with the "source" button as they will with the remote.

I would suggest 2 things - first, try different CDs. If it's accepting and ejecting just fine it may be a problem with reading your CD (I'm assuming you haven't tried this already). Ideally use a regular audio CD (not an MP3/WMA disc) that is relatively scratch free.

If that doesn't work, check to see if the initial settings can be adjusted to enable CD play.
To get to the initial settings menu you need to hold the "source" button until the unit powers off (the car's key will still need to be on at this point). Push and hold the "function" button and it should go into a menu with various adjustments, such as clock, aux enable, etc...
There may be a setting in there to enable CD play. I realize that the display may also be in Japanese but I'm hoping it will be somewhat intuitive for you - you seem to have a decent technical grasp on things already.
