Hi Dear, 1. Is the boot sequence in BIOS set to boot from CD or DVD, if not I would suggest you to go to BIOS and change the boot sequence to boot from CD and try to boot from the CD 2. Is the computer custom built or OEM built? 3. What is the model number and who is the manufacturer of the computer? 4. Have you made any changes to the computer by installing any new software or hardware? 5. Since when are you unable to boot the computer normally? 6. You need to get Windows Vista DVD to perform further troubleshooting either to scan the computer or to perform repair install, I would suggest you to contact the computer manufacturer to obtain vista DVD. Thanks
Check the mention below instruction to solve you problem.

Hi Acer supply the restoration files in a hidden partition on your hard drive. If it is the same as mine try this. Start the pc, then while the Acer logo is showing, press ALT & F10 at the same time. Then just follow the instructions. Bear in mind that this will format your C drive so you should do a backup of any important data first. Hope this helps.

Try to see if it will boot in safe mode, by pressing F8 while the laptop boots up. If it allows you to boot in safe mode, try to do a system restore when you know that laptop was working with no problems. You can do this by clicking on start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a date and time when you know that the laptop was working with no problems. If this does not work or you cannot boot in safe mode (be aware that everything will look big in safe mode and when the computer reboots if asked how you want to start windows, choose start windows normally), try doing a recovery. This will restore your computer to the factory default settings when you purchased it. You can do this by booting the computer, when the acer screen appears hold down the ALT key and continuously press F10, this will open the recovery manager and you can restore it from there.
I hope this helps
SOURCE: acer 7720 will not boot
Do you want to try and see if a 'Linux LiveCD' boots? This is the way I test if the computer works. You burn this CD to a disk, and then boot off of it when you're computer starts. I will not modify anything on your computer as long as you go to 'Try Ubuntu with out installing'
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
Don't worry, I'm not trying to get you to install anything, just see if it boots into the 'live environment' (means you are running it off of the cd) If this works, that means that it is only your windows installation is messed up, and a reinstallation of windows should work fine with a Windows install CD NOT the recovery cd.

OMG ... i was completley distraught. i bought my ACER ASPIRE LAPTOP 6months ago when i was trveling in italy ,im in austarlia. I use it torun my online game ; » www.themafiawarz.eu - and has all my files.
When i got the black screen o death i first am here to the boards finding nothing i was further distraught..
I AM HAPPY TO TELL YOU MY FRIENDS, that i am typing this on my lil baby
Heres what you do....
* you need usb disk drive
* a second computer with internet access (can be work cafe friends place)
* a file you can download from acer or search yourself called ZGIA32.zip
Formatyour drive in fat (*note i tried fat as directed in a number of manualsthough then tried fat32 and it worked then though suggest you try fatfirst *shrug)
open zip file and copy 3309.fd and the fla.exe to the usb stick
rename 3309.fd to ZGIA32.fd
Turn off your laptop making sure that both battery and power supply is plugged in and attach the usb stik/drive.
holddown FN and ESC keys and press the power button, continue to fold FNand ESC keys for 7-10 secs then release - at this point the power lightshould be blinking and you should still have the black screen of death.
press the power button once while its blinking - this will initiate a bios update * DO NOT PUSH ANYTHING AFTER THIS
After 2 mins the aspire should reboot itself , wait for about 7mins if it dosent before rebooting manually
Took me three attempts as i just wasent doing something right though TA DA!!!!!
and i still have my files. yeah team take this and run, hope you havent spent money yet
