Have a look at this site "www.crucial.com/uk". Use the "System Scanner" towards the bottom of the page left side, next to Memory Advisor this will scan your pc and will then tell you what memory you require.

Try installing the latest audio and LAN drivers.
You can download the audio, LAN and device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the Windowsdrivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download thedrivers: -

There are a few ways you can get the files off of this to a transfer to a new PC.

1. Download Hiren's Boot CD and use the mini XP menu to see the files and copy them to another attached drive. On this website use the HTTP link to download the zip file.
   
2. Remove the hard drive and attach it to the new PC. The new PC will see the drive and you will be able to copy the files.
3. Boot to safe mode. Log in as Administrator and copy the files to an external device.

• As for fixing the Windows OS, use your recovery CD's after you get the data off.
  

Check for the compatability of the Driver for the DVD player. Sometimes the Driver for HP Pavillion wouldnt work when operating system is changed or upgraded. Visit HP website to check if there is a DVD player Driver which you can download for Windows 7. Good Luck.

Generally, laptop battery to bottom both have a wedge, it's fastness battery to bottom. you must find it. can it's glide or draw , find lt, use hand to glide or draw , encase battery in X axis is OK.

This is a known issue from HP. HP found that some notebooks are having problem with the mother board and HP recalled such type of notebooks for free serivce.

Comming to the data in the hard drive. The data is safe and you can backup your entire data in the below process.

You can use this hard drive case and backup the data on any other laptop or desktop either at home, office or any other friends place without opening the system.

You just need to remove the hard drive from the laptop and put the laptop hard drive in the USB hard drive case and then connect it to USB port.
