I connected all the stuff to the computer( monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.) then i pushed the power button. Oh by the way this is a newer desktop. XP professional 40 gig 512 mb. You push the On button and the computer starts up but the screen stays black and the green light turns red and the built in speaker starts beeping over and over again really loud. The computer is running though sounds just like it should except for a black screen and beeping noise. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi, depends on the beep sequence, it could either ba a bad memory or a bad video card. By being bad does not necessarily mean defective but could possibly be just loose. Try to open the casing/cover and reseat/push back into place the video card (if it is not built-in) and/or the memory. It is possible that they were jarred loose while in transit. Pls make sure the unit is unplugged before doing this. BTW, being new, you might void your warranty if you open the casing, pls check your warranty card. Hope this works out for you. Please let me know how things turn up. Regards
