My TV is actually a Mitsubishi CK-3513R 35 inch, not the CK-35308. I didn't see mine in the product list. It only has a single horizontal line across the center of the screen. I think it is the Vertical IC, but I'm not sure how to locate or identify it. I have worked on TVs many years ago when they used vaccume tubes. I don't believe it will be difficult to fix if I can identify the component. Is this IC soldered in or in a socket? Your help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

HI, Your tv has problem with its vertical scanning side. vertical scanning
output ic (integrated circuit ) may have some problem ( faulty or dry
soldering in its leads). You can easily find out the vertical ic on your tv.
there will be four wire coming from the coil which is fitted on the
picture tube neck, of which 2 will goto horizontal scanning section and
the remaining two will go to vertical scanning section. just follow the
two thin wire (normally in color green and yellow ). it will goto a
socket on the main board. follow the track on the board. it will lead u
to vertical scanning section. check for any dry soldering, if not ,
replace the ic. ok
A $700 dollar estimate for a sound problem seems out of line - get asecond opinion (did some one look at it or just a guess). If the sound eventually comes on you probably have a connection (internal) problem or a intermittent part in audio section -cap o/p IC.
If you use a satellite or cable box can you hook your sound from that to an audio system thereby bypassing the TV?
the vertical drive ic that drives the yoke for vertical sweep has blown.
sometimes it is solder problems like sharp and toshiba had.
the part is 10$ the pc board will label it ,the yoke is the coil setup on the picture tube.if you follow the wiring half goes to the horizontal drive, and the others to the vertical section.the chip drives the coil directly.there are VERY high voltages in there ,even turned off. the pix tube cap on top is 30000v. like a stun gun.the horizontal drive 2000 volts and the main power supply 165 volts dc high current.you need a special setup to discharge the picture tube.
whenever you see horizontal line please reduce brightness of your tv for safety of crt.
your problem in vertical section only mostly due to loose contact in
connector,print or loose components.
Nope, the good news is that it is NOT a Tube problem! From your description, it looks more like a Cold solder in the Vertical Output stages (80% probability. Another possibility is dried out Electrolytic Capacitors in the same stages, or in the Power supply Line to the Vertical Output Stage.
Nothing you can do, unless you know solid state electronics.
Better get a good Technecian to have a look. he will locate the Cold solder quickly enough, and do a resolder.
