Can I replace 256 MB SD RAM with 512 MB DDR1 ram in intel 845 glly mother board?

I have installed RAM of 256MB each (2slots total 512MB ) and system BOOTS UP, but it keeps restarted on every 5 minutes.
Please advice
It is 845 GLLY Original and 1.7ghz.

Sound problem intel d 845 glly

Try going to device manager & look for any yellow exclamation marks or red x's especially on any sound device. If you have errors open up the devices properties and at the bottom under device status check to see if your device is working properly or not. Error messeges are in detail. If no problem there try adding on an external sound device to by pass the systems internal.

Hi Nadeem Nawaz,

No board will show display without memory. Your motherboard must run memory type;
Two DIMM sockets supporting 3.3 V (only) 168-pin 133 MHz Single Data Rate (SDR) SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts.
Unbuffered non-ECC DIMMs only.
Maximum total system memory: 2 GB; minimum total system memory: 64 MB.
Serial Presence Detect (SPD) DIMMs only.

If your memory is within Intel's memory specifications & you are not getting display on your monitor. It is possible that the integerated on board graphics (Shown on page 13 in your user manual), may be defective.
You can add a PCI video card to the PC. The Intel D845GLLY will auto detect the PCI video card. No need to enter the bios & make changes.
Please keep this in mind. The integrated video card is PCI, if it has failed, there is a good chance it will not see the PCI add in video card. If you can find a used (Working) PCI video card to test in the PC.

Intel 845 chipset mother board no reaction - expecting solution

Hi,
this is normal No-Ram. No-Beep.
The ram is all part of the bios analysis beep codes.
install memory, and setup the board to the manufacturers specification.
1 beep at post is normal on many bioses.

I have intel GLLY board, i am having sound problem in it. My sound is install but it is not working. Even i re-install the windows lot of time and instal the sound, but the problem persist, i heard from someone that there were some sound problem in this series of boards and you have to copy an additional file for sound. So please if anyone know about this problem than please help me...

HI dEAR,

First of all check the all vire connection.
and if it is ok then go for the driver.
reinstall the audio driver.
ans 2nd one is if you hv a sound card than reinstall it.try it.
